Is Mercy Killing Ever Justified?

Thu Oct 13, 2005 1:12 pm

I was taking a look at CNN.com just now, and on the front page there's an article talking about mercy killings that may have taken place during the Katrina disaster.

http://www.cnn.com/2005/US/10/12/katrina.hospital/index.html

Here's what surprised me:

http://www.cnn.com/POLLSERVER/results/20689.content.html

The poll shows that 82% of Internet voters think it is justifiable in at least some cases. I was surprised to see such a high number.

As for my stance on the subject, I can completely understand the compassion behind a mercy killing, but then again, who has the right to end another's life?

What are your opinions on the way voters responded? Do you share the same views? Why, or why not?

What if they ask you to do it? I think people should have the right to end their own lives, it is their life afterall.
Things were better when it was two guys in a dorm room.

I agree with the Capt, unfortunately in many cases where it may seem justified, the owner of the life in question is in no state to make that decision.
After Monday and Tuesday even the calendar says WTF...

Well, A.net is begging for mercy, so you must die.
And all at once the crowd begins to sing: Sometimes the hardest thing and the right thing are the same
