Directions From JFK

Tomorrow morning I need to pick my friend up at JFK and drive him back into the city. He lives by South Street Seaport, but the direction that we used Friday from yahoo took us straight through Brooklyn on Atlantic Avenue (not too nice and took a long time). I have to be at JFK at 5am for his flight from BUR and id really rather not drive through that part of Brooklyn again unless it is absolutley necesary. If anyone could give me better directions I would really appreciate it. Again from JFK to South Street Seaport.

Thanks!
Dave

Take the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel, then the Gowanus Expressway towards the Verazzano, then the Belt Parkway east. The traffic shouldn't be a problem at that hour of the morning.

Mir,
I'll be coming from JFK, so does the Belt turn into the Gowanus Expressway?

Thanks a lot!

Take the Belt Parkway West. Once you pass the Verazzano Bridge, you will see signs but stay on the left and that will take you into the Gowanus which will lead you to the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel. Once you get out of the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, stay left and follow signs for the FDR Underpass. First exit and second will both take you to the South Street Seaport.

You can certainly do the route in reverse - Belt Parkway west to Gowanus to Battery Tunnel (signage is pretty clear once you get on the Belt) - but be prepared for the chance of rush hour traffic on the way.

Why not just take the train  Wink

You can still meet him at JFK and help him with his bags!
