What Causes A Teardrop In The Eye

Mon Oct 17, 2005 1:58 pm

As Grown ups....We normally don't have tears unless He is cutting Onions  Smile or seriously still has lost a Loved one.
As one grows older the tears just dont come no more even at the loss of a close one.Is there a reason or its just getting used to things.
Thats one observation People have of me.But personally I feel very sad at loosing a loved one but no tears appear.
Hows it with others.

Funny!!! Tears solve alot of problems. My theory is there is nothing a slap
in the face can't solve. Thats how my dad solved problems when I acted up.

There is nothing wrong with crying as long as you don't do it in front of the wrong people. Having justified that, I will add that I cry on several occasions, LOL!

I cry quite a bit...but it's more socially acceptable for girls to cry than boys, isn't it? It pisses me off though that I tear up when I'm frustrated. It makes people take me less seriously.
But that was when I ruled the world

That's only because they don't have the guts to tear up when they feel the urge to. It is not a sign of weakness or taking somebody less seriously. It's just expressing how you feel. And if you need to tear up, the SO BE IT! It sucks that society expect so much from us, but you know what? I don't care! Studies have shown that men feel the same emotions that women feel in that sense, but that they're just too chicken to show it. So bottling things up certainly doesn't mean "being manly". But generally, yes I guess it's more acceptable for a female to cry because that's what society makes us believe.

I know what you mean- it's the exact same way with me although I rarely let people see me when I cry (personal pride I guess).

When people HAVE seen me however, I've never seen them take me less seriously though, they just think I'm a bit of a wuzzy for a while and then, that's that (or they think I have a severe depression lol) Big grin

Of course it's different. My dad's never cried since he turned 15 (according to my mom and himself) and I guess that's ok... of course it differs from person to person how emotional you are  Smile

As I age, I feel tears coming on when I'm happy or proud more often than when I am sad. There have been a few occasions when I've cried because I've been touched by something someone has said to me. When I got asked to be Godfather to my friends' baby --- I couldn't help myself. I held back the tears as long as I could, but I'd never been so honoured before. My eyes started sweating and then and it was 'game over' --- the tears came. I couldn't help it!

I've always believed that every once in a while, it's healthy to have a good cry.

I'm no cry-baby, but there are a few things that will get me every time: Thinking about my late Aunt Jean; listening to "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes" and saying good bye to relatives from the other side of the world.

A drop of Skydrol will do it every time. weeping

There are stories I cannot tell and passages I cannot read aloud without choking up.

Had to speak at my son's wedding and found it difficult maintain some composure. Uncomfortable - but you do it anyway. The day was about him, not me.

Totally agree

I am spending the first night away from my kids since they were born (3 years ago!) tonight - had to try to hold back the tears when my daughter told me she's miss me and she loved me. First time I've felt like that in ages.  Sad

Last time i felt like this was within the last couple of days.

There was a fatal accident at the weekend where i used to live in Sussex, a speeding driver (apparantly upto 100mph!) had a head-on crash with a family travelling in the opposite direction.

Three of the family members were killed, which included sisters who were 15 and 12. It really cuts me up to think how dangerous this world is, and how this twat's inconsideration for others has led to this severe loss of life.

Aww, cute  Wink ...

I don't think there's anything wrong with crying, eventhough I really never felt the urge to do so in the last years. I probably cried (for being sad) the last time when I was 15 or so. It happened to me to get a few tears for a movie or a theater I've seen, the last one being The Lion King show in New York... call me silly  embarrassed

But there are also times when one isn't supposed to cry. For example at work when dealing with a customer. In my opinion, that's a moment where you're supposed to be professional, and crying just isn't part of that. Hold it back and cry later... heartless? No, but in some situations you simply don't.

I guess a lot of Sadness over a period of time makes a person Hard to cry.As one gets used to it.

Noticed the Different ways people cry.
The Saddest is probably watching a Man cry without a sound, just the tears gradually dropping on an Expressionless face.
