France Vs Britain

Tue Oct 18, 2005 9:57 am

Not a football game, just Renault's latest ad. Find it is quite well done and for once pretty much respects both countries cultures.

For those who haven't seen the ad:

Only until the French join in. Then the English and Scots usually join together and slaughter them. Scots and English are allowed to have a go at each other. They're not.  Wink

Actually, France seemed to have gotten their act together in the last 35 years when it comes to technology.

After all, look at what they've done since 1970:

1. Was central in creating Airbus Industrie, the first successful competitor to Boeing.

2. Pioneered high-speed rail in Europe with the SNCF Tres Grande Vitesse (TGV) system.

3. Built a rationally-developed nuclear power generation system that is the envy of the world.

4. Built the first large-scale consumer online service (Minitel), in which many of the concepts got translated to the modern public Internet.

5. Modernized France Telecom with one of the most modern telecommunications infrastructures in Europe (which does explain you can get DSL broadband for dirt cheap in France  bigthumbsup  ).

6. Renault and the PSA group have actually gotten modern car designs for a change without completely losing their distinctly French "styling." After all, Renault started a major revolution in car design with the Mégane Scenic tall wagon in the middle 1990's, something that has pretty much affected every other automobile company on Earth.

What kind of history books do you dudes have up there in the arctic ? Ours don't say anything about how the great Scottish expeditionary force single handedly liberated Europe.

Or did you by any chance mean the UK when you said we ?

No that cannot be the case as you always proclaim your little province to be a nation state in its own right.  Wink

Dear skirt-wearing supermodel,

You will learn that it is grammatically incorrect to contract the verb when writing in English.

It is "it is very annoying" and not "it's very annoying".

How about a f*cking frog teaching you your own language?

I cannot for you to return the favour.

Quoting Sabena332 (Reply 27):
The poor grammar is because all Scots are drunken all day long, GKirk is the best example. Wink

Then again if you lived in Scotland, where the traditional dress for *men* is a skirt *without* underwear, perhaps you would start drinking.

Knowing that it is you, Patrick, the verb "to start" is somewhat inappropriate.

How are you these days, Mod fellow?

Cheers.
