Optical Illusion?

Tue Oct 25, 2005 4:47 am

Found this picture while surfing the net, it's amazing and you really think the road is blocked by that giant bottle , my question for painters and others in the know: will this 3D effect be the same in every angle or do you have to view it in a specific angle?

I believe you would not have to move very far to spoil the illusion. I have noticed in helicopter shots during F-1 races that Shell Oil signs on the ground are sometimes painted e l o n g a t e d to look right from one particular trackside camera.

This is especially true where objects are painted to look like the background they cover - like the bridge in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
Happiness is not seeing another trite Ste. Maarten photo all week long.

If anybody is interested, I have a whole file full of these (and what they look like when viewed from the wrong angle). They are however all real 2D drawings. Just IM me and I'll pop it across to you if you want it.
Not drinking, also isn't a solution!

Did they paint those drawings while waiting for the next bus to come?  Confused
