After sitting in the dark for the last couple of days due to hurricane Wilma, and living of can foods and crackers I finally got power again. FPL estimates to have power back to all customers within 3 Weeks or so. After this episode I realize how important electricity and food are and we should not take these luxury amenities for granted
My mom's buisness got its power back today (coral gables alongside US1 near sunset drive) but our house, 6 blocks from the store, is still down and apparently will be for at least a week... the only good thing is that at least they have semi-cool weather instead of the usual 90 degrees we get after a hurricane takes the power grid down for a while.
My sister in Miami Beach got it back today as well. Apparently they are going from Collins Ave. (hotels) and working from there... Areas around the airport and all are going to be getting power first too. Good luck to everyone (who probably won't read this until they have power back)!
My folks were among the fortunate in Broward County and only lost power for about half an hour or so during the storm...but now they are having a field day with my grandparents (including 1 with Alzheimers and her live-in aide) who didnt get their power back as yet...just talked to my mom, she's pretty stressed out...

I'm just waiting for the first Floridian to put out the first self help book entitled "10 easy steps to prepare for a hurricane!" Or even better, "Hurricane prepardness for Dummies". I mean Jeez Louis you all have to getting pretty good at this by now!
Warm winds blowing, heating blue skies, and a road that goes forever, I'm going to Texas!
