Do You Have Any Cool Scars?

Sat Oct 29, 2005 2:46 am

I have a scar on my arse shaped like the state of Florida. It's about 2"x1". I burned myself on a baking stone when I was cooking naked.

Do y'all have any nifty/unique markings? I heard that FlyingTexan has a wicked rip.

I am having a great deal of difficulty with this one.

How do you burn your arse whilst baking?

What were you baking that had a resemblance to the state of Florida (a red or blue state?)?

Why were you baking naked?

The visuals on this are very disturbing.

I have a scar on my right arm, which looks like I was slashed. I got my strawberry birthmark taken off when I was 12 or 13. I tell people I was bitten by a shark, and the gullible gits believe me, lol. You can't see it much now but is still quite visible to a great big blob on your arm.

BTW: I don't necessarily think of scars as cool. I have some on my lower left leg from a nasty bike accident (a car drove across my lower leg) and one on my left arm from cancer surgery. I am thankful that I recovered from both incidents and value my health much more for it.

I didn't actually get a scar from this but I got hot soup on my cheek once.
I was camping with scouts and there was an empty soup tin in the fire which still had a tiny bit of soup left in it and someone chucked it in the fire and another was trying to get it out but it was jammed in so he was trying hard to get it out with a stick and when it did come out scalding hot soup hit me in the face. Lucky I didn't get a scar actually.

As for me, all the knuckles on my left hand are scarred up from fights in the past, and the gifts I brought home from Bosnia were my right thigh has a scar from a bullet entry, and across my stomach where the bullet skimmed across (shot from the side) and ended up in the Marine crouching next to me in his arm.

I small scar on my right hand pointer fingers joint. When I was 12 and doing Craft and Design I was filing a piece of metal which was held in a vice and needless to say I filed too fast and too long and caught my finger on the vice. Blood dripping everywhere. Nice.

Well, not really a barracuda. More like a leech I guess.
Yes, a disgusting leech. Infected and left a nifty round scar just above my left knee.

Plus:
World's smallest machete wound, web of right thumb.
Left index finger where knife blade stuck in the bone. That was ugly!
Surgical scar inside right ear canal - I suppose, you can't see it.
Outside of right forearm, broken bottle.
Hundreds of little scars from wrist to nail on both hands from a lifetime of manual labors.

Scar on my chest where I burned myself with boiling hot water when I was about 2. Can't remember it, fortunately. At the beach last year someone asked if it was a bullet wound, so now that's my story if anyone asks. Small one where I sliced a finger open with a chisel (accidentally), as a kid, and another small one on my stomach where an enthusiastic surgeon cut out a freckle, which he thought was something else. Couple of broken/fractured fingers and toes from karate.

Oh, and the lobotomy, of course, but that's healing nicely.
Cheers

A small but visible scar on my right knee-cap. It's uninteresting to look at, but the story is great... I was about 8 and I slipped and fell on aggregate. Blood everywhere, could see the bone etc. Anyways, my dad put me in the car, and instead of driving to the hospital, he took me to his friends house who is an ER doctor. He stitched me up right on his dining room table, with his whole family watching!

Another weird one I have is a slash across my forearm. My sister was doing cartwheels and I did not see her. She ran right over me and her toenail(!) left a big cut across my arm.

Yes, I have several. In fact, I could probably top FlyingTexan's, but this isn't a contest!

The plastic surgeons did a good job on my face, so most of those are almost gone, and most of the rest are fairly hidden.

They used to bother me a lot, but they've become apart of who I am now. I often forget they're there.

When I was 15 (I think) I was bitten by a brown recluse on my right forearm. The infection was contained to about a one inch square area on the surface, but ran over an inch deep. I could see sinew. Now, the scar looks like a snake bite.

Yes, I have LOTS of them--from an entire childhood full of surgeries on my face! (The result of a rare craniofacial syndrome--Treacher Collins).

Surgeons at St. Louis Children's Hospital and Riley Hospital for Children (Indianapolis) cut out quite a few ribs to rebuild my whole face, plus pieces of pelvic bone and cartilage to make ears and jaws for me, plus an entire front face with cheekbones and eye sockets--all built from ribs, too.

Consequently, my chest looks like a miniature railway network with all those scars! Plus, there are two pelvic scars (where skin was taken from as well as pelvic bone pieces).

My head is full of metal plates and screws, as well as bioabsorbable implants, all designed to hold the ribs in place as well as the facial bones themselves. Some exterior scars surround my scratch-built ears as well as the area under my eyes. My most prominent scar on my head, however, is the huge tracheostomy scar on my neck from numerous tracheostomies since birth.

Each scar could tell its own little story!

Lots of them.

Having spent a lot of time banging my head on the roof of a tank turret I will be even worse looking should I ever lose my hair. . . .

Scars on my head too numerous to count. Longest on is about 6 inches from top center of my head to the base of my hairline on the back of my head.

Inside right thigh, knife wound
Right Lower Back, knife wound
Left Lower Back, Bullet wound

And you still wonder why I carry a gun?!?!

I was working at a Mercedes Dealer in Palm Springs, 1990. One fine 110 degree afternoon, a 450SL rolled in with a coolant leak. I opened the hood and saw the connection at the upper rad hose to the radiator tank leaking. I thought the hose clamp was loose so I tried to wiggle it. BAM! the radiator neck separated from the tank and blew 230 deg coolant, under pressure right at my groin! I had severe 2nd degree burns from mid thigh to my navel. My skin boiled right off and my penis looked like I was wearing a spent condom because the skin was hanging off.
Anyway, the ironic thing was the burn looked VERY much like the state of Texas. (I think my dick was Montrose!) To make matters worse, I ran out of gas driving to Eisenhower Hospital and had to walk 3 miles.

Three surgical scars including a midline incision and two scars from thee drains. Another scar from fifth grade on my leg where a compass was in my pocket and the little metal spikey part went into my leg.

I have a small infinity symbol branded into my right forearm.

Long story, short... Junior year of high school, my buddies and I were trashed, and someone had the brilliant idea of branding each other. So we all went around and branded each others forearms with a piece of metal in the shape of the infinity symbol. The left arm symbol healed just fine, you can barely see where it happened. The right one had a little bit more trouble healing--so I've got a nice scar from that. Only people who look really closely will notice it, but its there.

I had a schlong-shortening procedure when I was 10. It was making me slouch, so I had about 8 inches removed. Now it only hangs to my knees, but has a nifty scar next to the "Louisville Slugger" tatoo.

I have a couple of interesting but small scars.
I have a scar on the palm of my left hand (no, not from THAT). I was out drinking in a bar in Amsterdam, Netherlands on night while on vaction there in 1988. I was returing from taking a pee in toilet upstairs and while taking the stairs back down, I tripped on the high/narrow steps, just before a turn in them, put my hand into a small glass window on a wall between the stairway and got a nasty cut in my palm. They patched me up there with some band-aids and the next morning went to a nearby hospitals emergency department to get patched up and get a tetnus shot. No charges for that either. Was given a mesh glove (think Michael Jackson's outfits) to hold the bandage in place.
I have one on my chin when I fell of my bicycle in the driveway of a doctor's home and office (our Boy Scout troop stored our camping equipment in a barn/garage in the back). He sewed me up in his office right then. Have to be careful when shaving.
One one the side of my left temple when very young, I tripped on the front steps of the house I grew up in.
One small one on my skull from a can opener. Back in 8th grade, I use to harass a girl with the hall locker next to mine by shutting the door of it while she sorting out what she was going to put into it. One time after lunch, I did my little stunt, and she wacked me on top of my head with a plastic bag with a pointed, 'church key' can opener (this was before small juice cans had the tear off openings and before the boxes we use today). She opened up a nice cut, I go tearing down the hall a couple hundred feet to the nurses office screaming 'BLOOOODDDDD'. My mom and a neighbor had to pick me up and take me to the hospital to get 2 stiches. Never did that again.
I have a hard to see scar from a dog bite. That was really scary. Was collecting money for my newspaper route (2x week local paper) and this guy's young German Shepard stuck his snoot outside the screen door an took a bite of my knee. Off to the hospital to be checked out. Also had to file a police report and because the dog had bit before, I believe it had to be killed per the local health department's decision. Fortuntally my father knew the family of the owner of the dog. I am still afraid of loose dogs to this day.

This is the dumbest thing I have ever done, IMO:

I was at work, opening a box. I cut towards my body and the knife slipped and went across my other hand. It cut down to the muscle. I had 17 stitches and still have a little pain sometimes from it. I even had to work that day after I got stitched up. Luckily it was Taco Bell, so no one noticed I was on pain killers....

GO CANUCKS!!

I've got a few interesting scars. I've got a 3 inch scar on my upper left shoulder from a fight, one on my arm from getting caught on a nail while chasing my dog, a scar about 3 in. in diameter from a motorcycle accident where I got hit by a truck. That's really about all, I have a few more, but they're not that interesting.

Quoting DL021 (Reply 18):
Is there a story that accompanies that one?

Quoting BaylorAirBear (Reply 23):
I think we'd all like to here the story if you don't mind.

Craniotomy – a surgical procedure to remove a 2” hemaglioblastoma (brain tumor).

Last December, a co-worker and I were leaving the Luxor in Las Vegas going to breakfast in the early morning hours. I slipped and fell on wet pea gravel; I slipped quite violently – ripped my slacks, cut my hand, and banged my head on the ground.

Next day, my head hurt a great deal. I went to the Emergency Room. The ER Doc on call said “Oh, you’re fine, we’ll just do a CT Scan to make sure.”

He returned with the results some time later, sat down, and said “I’ve got some bad news.”

So a routine CT Scan revealed the brain tumor.

Six weeks and 2 surgeries later I was released from the Nevada Neurosciences Center with a cane. The brain does not like to be messed with and as a result, I am grossly uncoordinated on my right side – to the extent I now type with one hand. It is supposed to improve – and it has – just slowly. I have the best rehabilitation money can buy.

A year and a half before this episode I went through a very difficult and depressing life altering experience that was more trying to the power of ten. This didn’t phase me one bit.

I’m missing my skull below and right of the scar. They do not put a plate; just pulled my muscle taught where the skull once was.

So you can say I left my skull in Vegas.

RE: Do You Have Any Cool Scars?

Sun Oct 30, 2005 6:09 am

I have a nasty gash on my arm currently, which is probably going to be a nice scar. There's also a nice long one on my back from a couch run-in. Also have a scar from an ax injury on my leg, and a burn on my arm, and there are too many to count on my shins, knees, and elbows, from just growing up and doing stupid things.
