Damn, I was going to list this one, but figured it sold so few here, nobody would recall it. I thought they were cool. The base two door was just a few dollars more than the 79 Mazda GLC my dad bought for me as a graduation present from high school. On further review, I should be happy I got a new Mazda over a new Fiat....

I'm just going to keep my list to models produced in the last few years....

Pontiac Aztec
Citroen Xsara Picasso
Pontiac Grand Am
Pontiac Grand Prix
Chevy Impala
Chevy Coblalt/Pontiac Pursuit
Ford LTD/Mecrcury Grand Marquis
Chevy Uplander/Pointac Montana/Saturn Relay
Saturn Ion
Opel Agila

I'd also like to add anything the Chrysler built up until a few years ago (K-cars, Acclaims, Sebrings, Stratus, Neons, Concrode's, Dynasty's) a very dark time in Chrysler's history (as far as design goes).

I just went down the list of all new imported car-based SUV-like cars.

As horrendous the Aztec looks, at least Pontiac did try to do something different and push the envelope a little.
These others are just bland & stupid. Worst of all, they aren't that cheap so dealers are making money off of mark ups with these. That means we can expect to see more of these boring vehicles for quite some time.  Sad

On the top of my list is;

Peugeot 807, had it as a rental car and had all sorts of problems. It kept saying the tires were deflated (they weren't). Seat were small and uncomfortable. My dad said the gears on the stick were way too close together, and located in wierd positions. It was also hard to handle.

This guy spent five years restoring one by himself. It looks great. Hey, Alberchico, what do YOU drive? Or are you going to CLAIM that you drive (Insert name of $100,000 car here) and not a Lada!

I can't believe nobody has thrown in the Lada. What a POS. I've only been in one that didn't smell like it had gas leaking in the passenger compartment. Plus they're fugly to the extreme.

They're great until about 85K plus, then....Oil starts leaking into the spark plug wells, rear cam plugs leak, brake rotors need replacement and you have to disassemble their "Rubix Cube" hubs, timing belt, water pump, crank seals, everything is expensive, technical info is brief. I guess I just hate working on them.
I know what you mean, though, a few cars that I own are mentioned above and have been very satisfying. Someone mentioned the Cayenne above, go figure?

Actually the "Mustang II" was a much bigger POS than the above. There was actually a "King Cobra" Mustang II which amounted to a 170 hp 302 v8 with more plastic and tape than a styrofoam glider. Most of these were ridden hard and thrown away wet. Today, they're one of the rarest Mustangs to find.

Wasn't the Pinto blowing up on head on collisions, I could have sworn
that was its downfall. I could be wrong. As far as the Maverick
is concerned, I am going by personal experience. My uncle had one
and it was always breaking down.

140,000 miles when I sold mine. Barely burned oil, replaced two/four rotors, 3rd set of pads ~ 50%, replaced the water pump once, battery once, that's it.

Parts were reasonable but I figured out very early to forget getting service at the dealership - most dealers will rape you but Isuzu dealers do it with a hot poker.

The worse car I have personally owned and would never consider again is a Subaru. "Inexpensive and built to stay that way" is the biggest crock of sh*t ever distributed via advertising. The parts were horribly expensive and the oil system in the engine was a mess.

Actually, when rear ended the "drop in" (the trunk) fuel tank would burst. However, many Ford cars were built with "drop in" tanks except the Pinto had little protection. Mustangs were built that way and were never tagged. The infamous Pinto that "blew up" was hit from behind by a drunk driver going 50 mph, never touched the brake. A lot of cars would have blown up.

Didn't leak either? You know, some people could drive a Hyundai Excel 200K miles. with no problem. Whenever buying a used car, what kind of car is as important as WHO owned it. Driving style, care and maintenance is a major factor. You obviously know how to drive and care for a car. Possibly did you use "Synthetic" oil? Synthetic is less caustic on the gaskets and seals.

I guess, I stand corrected. I do remember getting a Ford Pinto model
car which was a bit to complicated for me and I never did complete
it. I wonder what happend to it. It was a gift.

Well, I think the intent was "utilitarian". I would also throw in the Scion ( The Box, I don't know the model) and Honda "Pilot". GM had "Brand Managers" from companies like Proctor and Gamble who thought they could sell cars like soap. I believe that's how the Aztec got through. Now what about the Buick Rendezvous? Same platform but it is actually practical as a people mover, as long as you don't have cargo.

Nothing special, changed oil ~ every 7500 miles, no synthetics. I have a friend who is getting ready to sell his simply because he needs a V8 for the boat he bought this summer. He had a little more trouble than me, had to put in a new clutch, otherwise identical experience. I've had several other friends with the same experience as well. Frankly, with Isuzu, Honda, or Toyota, I don't much worry about part costs as the odds are they won't be needed much if at all.
