Bush To Clean House In Oval Office?!?!

Mon Nov 07, 2005 9:24 am

http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1126712,00.html

Time is reporting that several high ranking administration officials hinted to a 2006 spring cleaning of the Bush cabinet. Potential members to be excommunicated:

1. Karl Rove, Chief White House Counsel
2. Secretary of Defense, Donald "Big Guns" Rumsfield
3. Secretary of Treasury, John Snow
4. White House Press Secretary, Scott McClellan

This would be a great Christmas gift to the majority of the members on this site!

Any odds on the above?

Is he planning on resigning?

I think he'd resign before he fired Karl Rove.

Without Rove, there would be no GWB, Gov of Texas or GWB, POTUS.

I'd feel a bit sorry for McClellan, since he's been the one who's had to take so many of the attacks that really should have gone straight to Rumsfeld, Cheney, Bush et. al.

But the rest of them? Wouldn't shed a tear. Except tears of joy.  Smile

There always has been and will be in all 2nd terms of Presidents, changes in the Cabinet and high aids in the Executive department. Some get pushed out as becomming a liability (like Rove may become) or not toeing to the Presidents policies. Some will leave as they can't take the heat anymore or don't want to kiss the President's butt anymore or their ideas are being ignored or dismissed. Some leave due to the extreme demands of time in those levels of work away from their families and friends. Some others just leave because they want to make more money in the private sector as lobbyists, corporate leaders, either for reasons for greed or family needs such as 1 or more children in college.

If there are some wholesale changes, it's not so much for the Bush White House, but for Congressional Republicans, who, after a disasterous '05 year, are pushing the WH for some goo PR going into '06.

With the problems of the Bush WH, with the indictment of Delay, and with the possible indictment of Frist, Congressional Republicans are going into '06 as unsure, I think, as they have, in a decade. They could lose their majority in the Senate, and will most likely see their majority in the House trimmed.

The GOP needs some good news, and none, really, is on the horizon. At least a WH shakeup could stem the tide.

God yes. His press briefings have become crucifictions. The way he's been grovelling lately - not only is it completely unprofessional, but it certainly would not have been acceptable to administrations past (Democrat AND Republican). How he's kept the job for so long is beyond me.

It's about damn time. Maybe he'll get some actual intellegence in the White House....

Oh wait, he isn't smart enough himself to do that.

REPLY 10, BF757300, wow, don't you right wingers get tired of saying this old worn out line again, it's the liberals and their media allies. Next thing you will say is that all these things are going on (Rove, etc) because of Clinton!
How many stations does Air America have vs. Limbaugh and Hannity, please give me a break about the liberal media.

Scotty is a good man, but he got caught in the Bush mortar fire of bullshit. I expect him and Rove to be on the top of that list to go in 2006.

How or why he was elected in the first place is beyond me!!

Actually we know how and why, with the help of baby brother in Florida, and the voting/counting machines supplied by the Republicans instead of being independent systems.

Well, then you deny the reality of the situation. I didn't agree with SCOTUS getting involved in a state's decision, but having said that, every recount shows that Mr. Bush won Florida by an incredibly narrow margin over Mr. Gore. And, in that case, Mr. Bush won the election, fair and square under or process of vote.

Now, you may not like Mr. Bush; you may not like the fact he won the election but not the popular vote, but the historical fact remains he won the election.

As a litte jab at Mr. Gore, had he just paid a little attention to his home state and it's 11 Electoral votes, he would have had at least 4 years in the WH. He has no one to blame but himself.
