Today We Remember

Sat Nov 12, 2005 1:16 am

There may be posts on this already, but I wanted to segregate my post from everyone elses... feel free to post your own thoughts.

Today we remember. We remember the fallen soldiers, the families of fallen soldiers, from the past, and the present. We remember not only the soldiers on the good side, we remember soldiers on the enemy's side.

Today should be a day where we remember the sons.. the fathers, the grandfathers, the uncles, the brothers, the mothers, the daughters, the grandmothers, the aunts.. everyone and anyone who gave their life for their countries sake.

Our freedoms world wide are thankful to the soldiers who lived, and the soldiers who died. If it were not for these brave, selfless individuals, who knows where today's world would be?

The numbers of surviving veterans from the great World Wars are dwindling, and our chances to thank them are becoming further from reach.. I suggest when you see a person in uniform today, you thank them for their contribution to your safety, your freedom, and for the things we have today.

On this day, we force ourselves to remember the darkest moments in history, yet we also celebrate humankinds triumphs and successes. Take a moment today to thank a veteran for their contributions to our societies, world wide.

May your God or being bless you, your families, and the great veterans who fought for our lives.

Pack your bags, we're going on a sympathy trip!

Salute to all the Veterans world wide . . . for their unending sacrifice, and the sacrifice of their families . . .

Today (and every day really) when you see a Veteran, shake their hand, tell them thank you. Thank them for their service to you and to your nation - no matter from where you hail.

Go visit a National Cemetary - as I will do to say Thank You to my best friend and fishing partner Steven "Monty" Montgomery . . .  tombstone  July 27, 1999.

I posted this link on another thread, but it seems to escape most people.

Major point of the remembrance day serevice in Calgary were the lines from flanders fields:

To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.

It is time to pass along the torch to the youth of today to remember those that went before.
