Games You Play In The Pub/Bar?

Sat Nov 12, 2005 3:18 am

No, I don't mean something like "who can drink the most pints" but I am talking about dart or billiard.

I am more a dart guy (501 is my favourite game) but from time to time I am also playing a round of billiard (pool) despite I am not very good in it.

What do you guys play while drinking your beer?

I'm a Darts guy myself. 501 is my game too but I don't mind Cricket or Bermuda Triangle. I suck at pool and tend to ignore it. I'll bust somebody up on a foosball table if one is around.

Somebody hose Mark off, but make sure he doesn't drop his beer.

I'll be in Toronto from Friday afternoon - Sunday afternoon. Staying in the city, apparently in the hooker district.  cool

Pool for me. I had a dartboard in my room for 6 years and I can still get beaten by someone who has never played before, so I try and forget that I could ever play darts in the first place. I'm reasonably good at pool although I haven't played for a couple of months. That is limited to English Pool though, I find American Pool frustrating because the pockets are so damn big! It gets to the point where games only last a minute or less and i'm wasting £20 or more in an hour.

Games? I drink at a bar. I can see that ANCFlyer and those other  old  guys need to concentrate on not falling over, my dad is the same, but at my age it's all about the drinking... mmm, strange expensive Belgian beer...  drool

Cheers

He probably paid someone to write it for him........

I prefer playing pool, as most places with darts these days have those stupid plastic tipped ones. My favorite hangouts has air hockey as well. I need to find a place that has one of these (Other than in the sports bar inside of Philips Arena and at the Thrashers practice facility, I don't know of anywhere that has one that's not an ice rink):

Another thing I like about my favorite bar is that they have pinball machines (probably the only bar in town with more than 1 machine, they have 4 most of the time).

Hey if you ever want to put together a ROC meet/drunken bender, give enough warning about it and who knows who'll show up......

Cricket or 8 ball mostly - snooker when I can get to a place with a table but there aren't many around. Shuffleboard is another good one on occasion.

Years ago when I was living south of Philly, my roommate and I came up with our own silly game that was actually a lot of fun. Don't ask me how it happened, combo of time and alcohol have blurred the details. We took large river stones and drew/painted a something simple on each one to give a hint to the stone's name which always had something to do with a stone, rock, pebble, etc. For example, one with a picture of a road would be "Rocky Road", dinner roll "Rock and Roll", tongue is "Rolling Stone", etc. Some were more obtuse and difficult.

We'd sit at the bar(mostly upright at Jocelyn's great copper bar in Media) and with the aid of our trusty well tipped bartender it was a great way to meet new girls. We ran into one pair though who were too stupid for even our low standards. They couldn't get even the simplest ones. Tim grabs a marker and makes two new stones just for these girls and hands them on for them to try. I'll never, ever forget "BO BIM, BO BIM, I just don't get it BO BIM". The bartender almost pissed on himself trying to keep a straight face. Even worse, they didn't get it when the stones were re-arranged - absollute zero brain function as far as I could tell.
