Well done gentlemen!  Smile

Shame on Uruguay for losing South America's 5th country in the World Cup. I'm sure Colombia, Chile or Venezuela would've done better.

Neverthless thanks to Australia for changing to the Asian Football Federation, now it will be easier for the 5th S. American team to go to the world cup Big grin

Venezuela and Chile do better than Uruguay...in your dreams..perhaps Colombia...but if Uruguay came 5th of the south american zone is bacause they were better than the other 3 teams....

And one must not forget...... Uruguay didn't have 4 days between each game but practically 3 days because of time change. whilst the rich australians had a private planes with massagists, Uruguay had to change several time flight(hope they travelled in Biz class) and I'm sure they came out far more tired from the trip than aussie...however I think it was about time Aussie made it to a world cup

No offence. But what a lame excuse. Why didn't they win more than 1-0 at home then? They didn't have any problems with Jetlag and stuff when they had home advantage.  Smile

Do not fear, we in Argentina are fevereshly and tirelessly working to give our World Cup spot to Uruguay or Colombia, in a single sudden death match to be played in the last weekend of November. Stay tuned.

After the complete embarrassment against England, and the absolutely scandalous showing against Qatar (a Division D team from some little town in the pampas could have done probably better), I'm announcing I will not watch this world cup if Argentina plays in it. Pekerman can go to he!!.

Willkommen in Deutschland!

It's great to have you in Germany. I think Uruguay might have deserved it, as well, but there are already coming so many South American teams that I really think Australia deserves it more. But remember, you are welcome, but if we play against you, you are kindly requested to lose  Wink

See you in Germany!

Trinidad & Tobago just won their game with 1:0, so they will be in Germany as well next year. Now comes the "game of the evening", Turkey vs. Switzerland, I expect an agressive atmosphere in the stadium and on the field.

You do realise that was all the Uruguayans fault. They timed the first leg at home so that the Australian team would have to go through that ordeal for the second leg. But the Australians hired a plane of Qantas so they wouldn't have to go through that, then the company that the Uruguayan team chartered from let them down so they had to suffer the schelduled airline route to Australia. That was they changed the kick off time for the first leg at short notice so that they could get the last flight out of Montevideo connecting with an Aussie flight, serves them right really.

What price that Australia and England are in the same group. We could the do an Ashes/Rugby Union and football treble. Big grin

I really think this will be a great world cup. The best teams (Netherlands, Brazil, France, Argentina) just to name a few will be there.

Somehow I fear it could be a short championship for us, but lets wait and see...

Congrats Australia for a superb victory!

Uruguay needs to pull all in the same direction. That's the key to make them win. They are not doing that, and this is what they get.

Luis,
I do not agree with your view. If those teams were going to do better than Uruguay, then why are they not qualified for the 2006 WC or fighting for the 5th spot with Australia?  Wink

Cheers! wave

I am really happy that Switzerland is coming to us. Turkey really disqualified themselves by their behaviour, even though the players really cannot be blamed for that, they played a hard but relatively fair game.

However, the way the Swiss players were treated (tomatos thrown at their bus when they arrived, things thrown onto the field during the game, a generally unfair behaviour of the fans) was really ashaming. I don't even want to imagine what would have happened if Turkey had come to the world cup and had played against Germany.

BTW, in this second Czech Republic won against Norway. Welcome to Germany! I guess they will have a good chance to become world champion.

YES! We're going to the World Cup!!!!! Big grin

They changed the times, they changed the referees, we had 32 years of history against us, but we won it anyway - regardless of any "divine rights"! I've never seen such a vocal and supportive Australian crowd, that image of 80,000+ fans dressed in yellow was fantastic to see, and must have been intimidating for the Uruguayans. Good to hear us drown out their national anthem, too  Smile I think that set the scene for the night - we weren't going to just sit back and cop it like we have for so long.
