Christmas Spending To Go Mad In Ireland

Thu Nov 17, 2005 4:44 pm

Listening to national Irish radio here on the internet, and they were talking about expected expenditure by Irish people over the Christmas period. For Christmas Eve economists are expecting the Irish to spend 20 million Euros (yes, TWENTY MILLION)... not on the day, BUT EVERY HOUR on Christmas Eve. All that in a country of only some 4 million people. Do the calculations... what do you think?

Hey there UTA_flyingboy. It's mad isn't it? That's one thing I loved when I left Ireland for France, was able to get rid of my Irish Visa card... where the bank just seemed to continually increase my credit limit to a ridiculously high level. Here in France I'm still stuck on an ok level, which would probably be considered ridiculously low back in Ireland, but hey, I'm sweating a lot less about paying my Visa bill every month now.

Oh yeah! Yet the French also love using their cheque books, don't they?
