Xtra Broadband (Telecom New Zealand). We are bound to a contract for 24 months which sucks as we have already had enough of Xtra due to all the problems we have had. Still got about 14 months to go. Beofore that it was Paradise.net.

Speakeasy OneLink DSL... it's a plan that doesn't require a home phone line. It probably would have been a bit cheaper just to get a phone line and DSL from SBC, but Speakeasy terms of service actually allow me to run a server. I thought it was worth paying extra for that, and I've heard a lot of really good things about them.

2Mbps down/256Kbps up ADSL from Eclipse, no limits or port blocking/throttling, £29.99 a month.

Going up to 8Mbps next year as BT roll out maxDSL to exchanges. Mine is enabled and ready.

I could have 24Mbps this month as Be are enabling my exchange for ADSL2+ but don't really fancy joining that company. Too new.

Tesco.

Incidentally, they provide our phone service, our broadband service, my employment, my shopping.

As you can tell, Tesco is pretty big here in Montrose.

PlusNet 2Mb ADSL connection, no download limit, £14.99/month. Basic package which gives priority to browsing and less bandwidth to P2P sharing, higher contention ration than the £21.99/month package. Still, it's perfect for our home needs - excellent speeds and very cheap.

Verizon DSL. 1.5mbs up /768mbs down. $29.95/mo. + taxes (total about $33/mo) Went to them in March. No problems, 99.9% access, good speed, and can still use my phone at the same time without tying up the lines (unlike my ex-dial up service) Also includes MSN Premium Internet software.

I now realise how riduculously bad our price/ value ratio is.

I have the German Telekom (T-online) T-DSL 1000 flatrate. With 1 Mbit/sec down and 128 kbit/sec up.
I pay around 14€ for the monthly tariff but if you wanna have T-DSL 1000
You need to have the landline which cost basically from 15 € up to 32€ a month. (I pay around 20€) plus T-DSL basic tariff (just to have it) around 10 to 12€ i can't remember correctly.
So that adds up fixed costs of around 46€. And 1Mbit is really slow these times.

No kidding! Here you can get 1Mbps for USD$15 per month, IF you sign a one-year agreement. You can get 5Mbps for the same money you're spending with no contract over here. From what I understand, South Korea and a few other countries have 8Mbps as the minimum standard and go up from there in major cities.

The only service that caps your downloads here in the US (to my knowledge) is Direct TV, which may not even offer any consumer services anymore. Everyone else is uncapped so far as I know.
