It's Snowing In Dublin :-)

Fri Nov 25, 2005 5:07 pm

So today Ath Cliath is waking up under a nicey blanket of the white stuff (no, not that  Wink )

And it's not the 5 snowflakes we had last year either, I had more on my Astrhaa this morning that I had in Low Elbonia (CMF) when I lived there.

It's already wreaking havoc in the city center as I write this  Silly

We've had a nice big snowfall here in YUL, too. It's actually quite early to have this much, actually. Or at least that's how it feels - doesn't seem like it should be wintertime yet.

Well, enjoy it!

No, these remained in High Elbonia.
I however rushed over to get new front tires last night as the front ones looked more like Group N slicks than street tires  Silly

it is snowing quite a lot in Dresden, and the wind gusts are strong. Wonderful, I am on call tomorrow, that means lots of fractures due to slippery roads and sidewalks.

At least it is very pretty.

Enjoy your winter in Dublin (love that city).

Yep just spoke to my sister standing outside a hospital in Dublin (my niece was operated on last week in case any of you didn't see my thread, and glad to say she's been discharged today)... mysister could only speak a few minutes and even put her cigarette out half way through the call as she said she was turning blue!

From UTA's photo, the snow doesn't really look that much... we had quite a nice white Christmas 'morning' last year in south county Dublin though.

I was hoping to see some of the white stuff here in Toulouse after a week of very cold forsty and sunny conditions, but today it's just raining like a typical Irish winter day!

UTA, I'm sure that '73' registered car of yours has seen a lot more snow than that... 74... Savoie or Haute-Savoie? Can't remember!

Flyingbabydoc... enjoy the snow in Dresden and all the fractures! Will send you a message later.

Well I can assure you, it is snowing in Glasgow as I type this, and my home town of New Cumnock (about half-way between Glasgow and you) was seeing the beginnings of snow when I left for work about 7.30 this morning.

Apparently so, yes. I was told it gets frosty, but never really snows. It snowed I think once last Winter.

That is rather unusual for Dublin, isn't it? Your winters are usually quite warm, aren't they? You do have effects of the Gulfstream irrc.

I lived in the West Country in England last year and we hat 10 - 12 degrees in the winter on a daily basis. Amazing for me.

I got back in my building about 10 minutes ago... partly cloudy skies, but no snow. Right after I had made it into my flat, my flatmate told me to look outside at all the wind and snow. At first I thought it was but snow being blown from the roofs, but it's real snow!!!  bigthumbsup

I wonder what model is that Opel with the license plate 707 TM 73?

(EDIT: Oh, never mind. I saw from the first post it's an older model Opel Astra.  Embarrassment )

Anyway, here in the USA the Tire Rack company (the largest mail order retailer of tyres in the country) recommends four-wheel snow tyre installations. That near-disaster with then 707 CMF 73 is good reason why.

I recently replaced my old Bridgestone RE900 tyres on my 1998 Honda Civic HX CVT coupé with new Yokohama AVID TRZ tyres. The improvement in both dry and wet handling is quite dramatic, to say the least.

Blowing a gale - up to force 11 - here on the North Sea coast of the Netherlands, and torrential rain. We're in the grip of an extremely nasty depression and the air pressure is the lowest I've seen in a while, 972 hPa. Threat of sleet or snow tonight, brrrrrrrr!!!!

It is simply incredible here, you can't see the garden fence in front of my parents' house anymore because everything is full of snow. It is snowing nonstop since Friday evening and there is no sign that it will stop. At least we have electricity unlike other parts of the country.
