So that's, what, three lego sets?

Funny! This story was on the Reno local news the other night. They showed the guy's house being raided. They said the raid was led by US postal inspectors and they would not say what crime the guy was suspeced of, or what the investigation was about. The reporters did say they saw boxes of Legos being removed. I've never seen such a secretive search and arrest - all over Legos.

I had a police station when I was a kid as well. But it was more modern that that one. And it had a heliplatform  Smile

$200,000 worth of Legos, also known as the "Danish Crown Jewels."

Talk about uptight. You guys need to Lego. Or, simply get the A-Net administrators to block me.

I had the airport, it was yellow for high visibility. I also had two planes - twinjets with a passenger capacity of about 2. No pilots.

Trent.

Actually Lego is pretty fun to play with still. There are so many things you can build with it. You just got to have a good imagination  Smile

And to top it all off, this guy was a very active member of the large online LEGO builder/collector community. Most of the stuff he sold was resold over the internet on the website Bricklink, which is like eBay, just for LEGO bricks. So he was essentially selling half-stolen merchedise to a pretty tightly-knit community.

On a related topic, for "kids" like me that still like to buy some LEGO sets every now and then, LEGO has a new Airport collection for 2006...

Okay, who in the hell other than a 5 year old wants $200,000 worth of Legos? I don't mean to be harsh but when is he due at the mental asylum?  crazy

Heard on the news tonight at 11 it seems that guy stole more than $600,000 worth of Lego's not the previous $200,000 as the police thought.

It is amazing how D-U-M-B crooks are. At least this guy had a twist to his theft scam. He, like most crooks, figured probably figured that he wouldn't get caught. This is a real problem with the rise of the internet, that stolen or bootleg merchandise being sold on e-Bay or specalized auction/resale sites.

The obvious answer was in the post just above yours:
