Recently, I have applied to three ads from very respected international companies and every time the reaction was rather strange.
First, I have applied to DHL ad. They posted on their website and asked all the applicants to send e-mails, which I did. The reply was highly negative and came ten minutes after I sent an e-mail. Interestingly, I've sent it on Saturday afternoon so the chances that someone read my e-mail and replied to it withing ten minutes are close to none. They already had prepared reply and sent it automatically!
Similar thing happened when I sent and e-mail to FedEx. This time, they never even tried to reply.
Third one was probably the strangest. BA wanted a Customer Service Agent and I sent them my CV, why I believe I'm fit for the job and a photo (they asked for all of that). This time, I did it in printed form and I went to BA office to give them my application. What is strange there is that they said that they won't invite everybody to the interview. Those who are not invited would not even be informed at all! After two weeks of waiting, I phoned BA office to ask what is going on. The answer was that they still didn't made any decision. Then I asked if they could tell me if I'm still among those who will be invited or not (at that point, I really wanted any answer, no matter whether it is positive or not), the lady said that she can't give me that information.
So, what do you think? Are they playing fair?
Getting a job in a foreign company in Belgrade is a tricky, if not impossible task and very often those companies use the same tricks as local ones do and post an ad simply because they are legally obliged to not because they really want to find the best among twenty or so applicants (someobody always gets that job even before the ad is posted and his or hers position should only be legalized with that ad).
Should I still wait for their invitation after a month of waiting, or should I simply forget about them?
