Recently, I'd have to say "Crash" (2004). That's one powerful movie!

I have to agree with a couple of other posts here that the "The Shawshank Redemption" is a great movie.

One of my other choices would be "Dances With Wolves".

I don't know why, but that movie affected me in a way that not many movies have. It could very well be because I live in Western Minnesota in an area that used to be all prairie. I have read accounts from the settlers in this area who told similar accounts of the immense amount of Buffalo which were found here. Stories of settlers hearing a low rumbling sound 5-10 minutes before a huge herd of Buffalo would come running by. Also, stories of the beaten down trail they would leave behind.

The movie did a nice job of showing this, and it made me feel like I was standing in the rolling fields of my homeland and experiencing it firsthand.

Friday Night Lights was based on a book, but it is one of the best made-from-book movies out there.

The book, however, is amazing. If you like the movie, you will enjoy the book even more.

My favourite movie is "Lost in Translation", Bill Murray's acting just blew my mind in that one...

Just watched Crash after your suggestion. Didn't think it was that good, almost a cross between; Pulp Fiction and Boyz in the Hood.

All time favourite film would be "Gods Must Be Crazy"
