Front Door Or Back Door?

Sun Dec 04, 2005 3:29 am

When you get home, do you go in the front or back door?
Personally I use the front door as it is easier

I live in an apartment; unless I scaled the wall to enter via my balcony, the front door's the only entrance/exit.

Generally use the garage door after opening with garage door opener.
Probably been a year or more since I personally used the front door, not even sure if I have a key for it.

I prefer the front, sometimes going through the rear requires extra effort. I want to make sure I'm not physically depleted before attempting to go through the back door.

Always use the front. Never had the urge to use the back since it means walking all the way round the house to get to the door.

I almost always use the front door as this comes naturally for me. Going through the back door takes too much effort and my wife always bitches about how much extra effort is needed. Besides, when I'm carrying a large load (and I always am), trying to enter through the rear is a tight fit. Another drawback to rear entry is the stink. The waste receptacle is right there, just inside the door! Don't get me wrong: I love looking at the back, but the front is so much more inviting.  Wink

Just to spice it up a little: my dogs use the back door all the time.  stirthepot

My apartment building's parking lot is behind the building, so I typically use the back door.

Side door. We have a front door (on the front porch), a side door (on the carport), and a back door (on the patio).

My back door can't be locked/unlocked from the outside so the front door it is.
This was rather a change for me, when I lived with my parents the front door was only used to receive guests.

Back door. The garage was built later than the house (in fact, I doubt the owners had a car in the EARLY 1900's), and the yard isn't big enough, so they built a seperate building for the garage. It's not too far, about 100 feet away I'm guessing, but it's in the back, so back door it is. Only guests use the front door. In fact, I think we lost the key to the front door! It's chained anyway, so no use.

Good grief, this house is old!  Wow!

I usually leave the choice to wifey, sometimes I will come home via the front door and then a bit later use the make the trip to the back door... but I find that it is polite to use the front door before using the back door as this avoids bringing mud into the front door.. nothing ruins a late night snack like when you have to stop and clean up the carpet in the foyer before dinning jn (this is especially true when making trips to the neighbor's house as using the back door first might anger your neighbor's husband who hates to find the front door cover with mud when he knows no one was supposed to be in his house

Same problem here; but does your girlfriend get a little careless about locking after she's had a few drinks? I know mine does. I find it hard to be angry about it, though. I usually have to go through the front door before finding out whether the back is unlocked, as it's rare that I try going around to the back first.

I also found out that she has fits if I go straight to pounding on the back door when it's locked.

This actually confuses more people than you'd first think. The only recommendation I can give someone if it sticks is not to use WD-40. Quite the mess.

Why are back doors so much harder to use, the knob always sticks and the door refuses to yield to any entry attempts, should I add more oil to the knob

I reccomend that you mess around with the door a bit before you do anything with the knob, as this will enable you to get in easier. If you oil the knob, it will of course all work out a lot smoother  Smile
