Barcelona is a stunning city, especially at night. A few years ago I made a weekend trip to Barcelona and I was shown around by fellow A.net member Mighluss
, we met at noon at the airport and went spotting (stunnig spots, especially the one at the beach), later we had dinner in "Thomas Tappas Bar" (probably the best tappas restaurant in Barcelona) and then we walked through the city at night and had a few drinks. Barcelona is perfect when you like nightlife, architecture and good food.
Actually I like every Spanish city/region on the main land. No matter if I was in Barcelona, Alicante, Valencia or Malaga, it is always a pleasure to be there.
One tip: Avoid the tourist spots like Playa de Palma (Majorca), Playa de Ingles (Gran Canaria), Playa den Bossa (Ibiza), etc. There you will meet more German, British and Dutch tourists than Spaniards.
