The Official I'm Tired Of USC/Reggie Bush Thread

Sun Dec 11, 2005 2:01 am

Everytime I turn on ESPN all I see is Bush and USC. Sure they are good, but I'm tired of it. I cannot wait for UT to lay the wood onto USC.

Show your love for Texas or disgust for the amount of coverage USC is getting.

Grow up. Texass is going to get pounded by USC in a few weeks. You sound jealous that Bush is gonna beat Vince Young by about 30 votes in the Heisman final tally.

Texass doesn't have a chance against USC. They simply are the single greatest team this year, in the history of college football. Too much talent. All Texass has is Vince Young. Period.

You can't name the number of great players USC has on both hands.

Ryan: Since I'm a Texan, I'll probably root for UT. But I'm afraid their offense is a little too reliant on Vince. So I think USC is a logical favorite.

Mainly though, I'm gonna kick back on the 4th and enjoy one of the best matchups ever.

Gotta give Bush his props, too. Every time he touches the ball, I expect something great to happen.

I agree Bush is a good player. I think USC's number is up. They should have lost to ND. Texas has the talent to win, they may beat themselves, but I think Texas will win it 40-33.

How am I jealous? Jealous cause I wasn't voted in? Yeah you're right  sarcastic  Do me a favor and point out where I said Bush doesn't deserve the trophy? The only thing that bothers me is that Brady Quinn had better numbers than Lienart yet he was overlooked.

I'm not even a big UT fan, but I am a ND fan. I'm looking forward to the Fiesta Bowl.

You can't name the number of great players USC has on both hands.

Lindell White, Matt Leinert, Reggie Bush.

You can't name the number of great Texas players on both hands. Texas' offensive line is simply amazing; without them, Vince Young would not have had nearly as great a year as he has had. Both Jamaal Charles and Ramonce Taylor have averaged more than 7.0 yards per carry on the ground. The Texas defense held all but three teams to less than 20 points. You might not know their names, but many of them will be playing on Sundays here before too long.

USC does not have a dominant defense and their offensive line has struggled at times this year. That is why I think the numbers White, Leinert, and Bush have put up are great and why Bush will win the Heisman hands down.

But USC over Texas 56-21?!? Buddy, you must be smoking some heavy shit because there is no way that USC scores 56 against the Texas D, nor is it likely that USC's D actually performs at a high enough level to hold Texas to 21. If the line is USC by 4.5 or more, I'll be wagering a bunch on Texas. It will likely be a close game dominated by offense, a game that could go either way. Right now I still have USC winning a close one by 3-4 points, simply because I'm still uneasy about Vince Young's decision making while passing the ball. I have no doubts about the Texas D doing well, nor the offensive line holding up, but the game rests on whether or not Vince Young can make the reads he needs to make. While I will be rooting for Texas, I am unsure if Young will be able to make the correct passing decisions. My opinion may change before the game, though  Smile

I'm just sick of all the fuckin USC bandwagon fans I have to deal with everyday. All they do is talk shit about my team (Fresno State), and its obvious they haven't been fans of USC before 2003. I mean, you ask them a question about USC in the 90's or anytime pre-2003, and you get "well, I don't care about that". when a true fan would know about things like that. Hell, I'm not even a fan of USC (I despise them), but I know more than they do about them. I think that Texas will beat USC. If USC has problems with a mobile QB, it could get ugly. I'll take Texas 38-31 in a thriller.

Oh, and if Bush gets a wheel busted, that USC offense has more than enough weapons to compensate.

Do you think he will be better than LT? I don't think he will personally, but he will be good...The strongest argument against Bush being the next Peyton/LT is that he has not carried the full load, since he has Lienart and the good WR(his name just slipped my mind) to split the work. But I'm interested to see how he does.

First, do you have any idea how many points USC puts up on average every week?? They beat the hell out of a damn good UCLA team. They stomped Hawaii by like 70. Same with Arkansas. The stoped Oregon. They have been in three close games all year when the 4th quarter rolled around. Texass will not stop USC's offense, and USC's defense will eat Vince Young alive. Young will win the Heisman before he graduates I'm almost certain...But next year he'll just have to go up against Lindell White, and at least a handful of other Pac 10 standouts.

It won't be close. And USC will win by at least 21 points. At LEAST 21.

And, no, I'm not a USC fan. I support a different Pac 10 school  Smile

Either way, this is going to be a score-at-will affair - possibly the highest total combined score for a national championship game in Division 1 history. First team to 50 wins this one.

I see Texas dropping 60 or more on USC though - with USC ultimately losing by two touchdowns.

I'm personally sick of hearing about Notre Dame to be completely honest. Notre Dame has one decent year and they are the talk of college football (I believe most of those players are from the Willingham era anyways). They almost beat USC, but they lost. You could say that about any one or two loss team: "If we had only completed that pass, we'd be undefeated," but you're not. You don't get a prize for losing. And they lost to MSU at home, who is a terrible team. I don't really care about USC or Reggie Bush, but they deserve all of their airtime since they have been the best team for three straight years, and Bush might be the best player in college football. This is most anticipated championship game yet

See, you can't talk money then claim scoreboard. Up until about 2 years ago, the Braves had one of the highest payrolls in baseball and they had been up there for some time. Once they realized they had no heart they cut the payroll. Luckily for them, they had a solid farm system, but everything has to end at some point. Oh, and don't get it twisted, the ATL's payroll is still high. The Mets with all their moves this off season actually have a LOWER payroll than they did last year. Hmmmmm. Pete Carroll will have some kind of game plan to work on Vince Young. They don't have to stop him but contain him so to speak. The USC offense is very prolific and easily the most powerful that vaunted Texas D has seen all year. Unless they choke, they will score.

Vince Young is good, but he's the only weapon Texass has this year. In games where he's been kept in check for at least part of the game, it was a pretty tight ball game. USC has speed. They have depth. They have big names on both sides of the ball. Names being ploural. They are the single greatest dynasty in college football history. And, should they win the Rose Bowl...I haev a feeling Pete Carol will have his choice of any NFL job he wants. Rumors are all ready flying he's floating the NFL market looking for 6 mil. a year, and total control of personel on his roster. I have a feeling we could see Pete Carol on an NFL sideline very soon. Hmmm....Coaching Regie Bush perhaps????

S12PPL, You can say the same for USC. If you stop Bush, you stop USC. If Fresno State stopped Bush, who single handedly beat them, it would be a different story. Same with Arizona State and ND. I mean, Reggie pushed Lienhart into the endzone! Bush (and the soft Pac-10) makes USC...Vince makes Texas. It is the perfect match up

Thats just not true. If Bush gets shut down, you still have to worry about Leinart through the air, LenDale White on the ground, Jarrett and Smith in the receiver slots...all play makers. Other than Vinnie Young, I haven't heard one other offensive name from Texas.

I won't believe in Texas until Mack shows me he can actually come through and win a big game. He always chokes when he has to win.

When he was the coach at UNC, he broke my heart plenty of times. Promises of a big win over Florida State numerous times, BCS bowls......he didnt do any of this.

Mack is the nations biggest choke artist.

KROC, all of those players you named are no doubt great athletes, but if you don't have to worry about Bush (by adding the 8th man in the box) it is a lot easier to shut down Leinart and his receivers. The only reason anyone hears about anyone other the Bush/Lienart is due to the fact that USC has been the best team in the nation three years in a row and has been displayed on every sports channel/magazine. If this were the case for Texas, people would be able to name their play makers as well.

I won't believe in Texas until Mack shows me he can actually come through and win a big game.

Gee, seems to me he did that at The 'Shoe earlier this year, my friend.

Exactly, since when is beating Ohio State a big win?  Wink

Since I came to town.

What if Bush gets seriously injured (knee, leg) in the Rose Bowl-will he still go #1 in the draft?

It really depends on the type of injury...i still think he would go #1 though...The Texans are so desperate, they would take Bush if he broke both femurs!

Bills fan? 3 trips to the Super Bowl and no cigar....

If you're going to diss, do it right. The Biulls went 4 times in a row without winning the big one. Still not as bad as only cashing in one title in 14 straight trips.....

LenDale White is an outstanding back. He has numbers not all that far off from Reggie Bush and if there weren't two top shelf backs in the backfield, Bush or White would have had over the top stats. If Bush goes down, you still have to worry about shutting White down.

He is no doubt an awesome back...I wouldn't mind having him on my team, but he is no Reggie Bush!

I looked at USC and Texas' combined records of their opposition, and they are almost identical: (72-62) and (72-67), respectively. I thought that was pretty interesting. This matchup keeps getting more and more ideal

Depends on the injury, but lets hope he doesn't because I am hoping for the niners to get first pick again this year. Bush could really help the niners out
