Man, this guy was a trailblazer. I'll never forget that bit with Chevy Chase on SNL. Honky Honky!

Where Chevy called him a Nigger. I like the Exorcist skit the best. I think I will watch Stir Crazy tonight followed by The Toy.

I'll never forget his appearances on SNL. When he played the asst. to the exorcist and the bed came down on his foot..."The bed is on my foot, the bed is on my foot, the BED IS ON MY FOOT!" Or when he, Garret Morris, and another I can't remember played the Pips without Gladys Knight. That was easily one of the funniest moments I've ever seen on TV.

I remember watching one of his standup routines . . . he's talking shit about this and that and got on to the subject of other comics . . . one specifically was Bill Cosby and how Cosby didn't cuss a lot during his routines . . . Pryor said some people have told him Cosby wouldn't like his comedy because of all the cussing . . . . Pryor's comment, "Well, tell Bill to have a Coke and a Smile and Shut the Fuck Up".  rotfl

Also in the movie with Gene Wilder where he's an escaped con and Wilder is framed for murdering some professor on a train "Silver Streak" . . . cracks me up. Especially the part where he tries to make Wilder "act black".  laughing

Damn it!  cry  I'm gonna miss that guy. I still think Brewster's Millions was one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. Pryor and John Candy made a hell of a pair.

Rest in Peace motherfucker!  tombstone

One of the top 20 comics ever. What a great shame, and a massive loss for everyone. May he rest in peace.

Funny bastard.

This man redefined comedy and did things his way. I enjoyed the hell out of his performances , records and movie appearances.

I'm amazed by the fact that he lived as long as he did, and grateful for it.

I think I'll pull out one of the records.........

A ground breaking, brilliant, uncompromising, caustic, 'Middle America' baiting, comic genius.

I really must get DVD's of his classic live routines.

A flawed man yes, but many highly artistic people are, not an excuse, just a fact of life.

For me, by far the best of his films, when playing straight, was probably the must underrated, or even unknown.
The 1978 movie 'Blue Collar' a favorite a mine.

"Yeah...thass right....We bad!"

Go rent or buy the movie "JoJo Dancer, Your Life Is Calling"

semi-autobiographical....good flick and he starred in it.

NASCAR fans should go get "Greased Lightning".

I was working for Malibu Grand Prix in '78-'79 at the Norhridge,Ca. track the day he ran down Parthenia st. on fire. Our postal carier came in the door and announced "Hey, I just seen this black dude running down the middle of Parthenia! I think it was Richard Pryor!". He knew Pryor lived nearby. Sure enough, it was.

"Man that water is COLD!"
"....and DEEP too!"

RIP - Richard Pryor

He was an innovative comic, one of the first to express the ideas of urban black Americans without trying to comprimise to fit into the 'white world'. He appeared in something like 40 theatherical and TV films mostly in humorous, but also in a number of serious roles. He was one the screenwriters for the film, 'Blazing Saddles'. He even had his own variety show in the late 70's (?). He had a problem with drugs, almost killing him. I recall his appearance with Johnny Carson a number of months later, still an alive mother-f-er. He became ill with MS in about 1986 and suffered heart problems, yet he kept going till now. He died at a hospital near Encino, CA, near his home from a heart attack at home. He leaves a widowed wife whom attempted to save him and said he died with a smile on his face.  tombstone

I can only hope that his family asks Bill Cosby and George Carlin to do his eulogy...

A true treasure of the Earth and a loss to humanity. "See No Evil, Hear No Evil" is still one of my favorites.
