I Need A Shoe.

Wed Dec 14, 2005 12:02 am

My old shoes are worn out and I need new shoes. I prefer black business dress shoes but I also want something that is durable and will keep for a long time. I was thinking along the lines of the shoes of airline pilots, but I dont know any makes and models.

Thanks in advance.

Edit: my budget is around $100

If you want to be waaay different from the masses, do your back a favor, get shoes that are made with love and social conscience, and be as cool as the Dalai Lama, you need a pair of Phönix. [The text is in German, but the pictures give you an idea.]

Allen-Edmonds. Excellent shoes, just very nice quality. Long lasting, durable and many styles.

Johnston & Murphy. Another favorite of mine.

ACA- Allen-Edmonds are more expensive, but are well worth it in terms of how they'll hold up.

J&M are less expensive and you can get good sales on them. I'd also reco their leather goods. J&M has belts that match shoes and they make for a very sharp look and complement each other. Look for deals on J&M.

I also have a pair of Kenneth Coles that are surprisingly not as supple as I'd like. Rockports, Timberlands are all good too, depending on style and use.

If you're looking for along the lines of practical airport shoes, it's also important to note that Johnston & Murphy are making theirs with kevlar shanks that won't set off metal detectors at the airports--the bummer is that they still make you take them off!

I have a pair of Eccos. They're black business shoes, but they feel like a nice pair of tennis shoes. I think I paid around $250 for them but the should last a long time. I've had mine for 7 months and they still look new with a little shoe polish here and there.

I have a pair of Cheaney's which cost around £180 (USD $300). Pricey but well worth the cash. You need to get some shoe trees in as well to keep the shape of the shoe
