Translation Please From Our Colleagues.

Sat Dec 17, 2005 1:15 am

I went to a sale last night and bought a little something that has a French legend on it. While I know it has to do with lawyers and ladies disrobing, I'd like an accurate translation. It goes in my small collection of goofy lawyer stuff.

It's a small Limoge dish, and it has a picture of an avocat in his robe and a blonde doing a strip tease and here's what it says:

Pour plaider sa cause, l'avocat met sa robe
Pour plaider la sienne, la femme l'enleve

my French is pretty poor but I would read it as :

to plead his cause the lawyer puts on his gown
to plead hers , the woman takes it off

Not as poor as you think. That was pretty much spot on (of course, my French sucks worse than yours).
