About The Uefa Champions League

Sat Dec 17, 2005 7:39 pm

Yesterday was held in Nyon the draw for the first knockout round of the best European football competition. And all matches are excellent! We'll hopefully see good football here. So these are the matches:
.Bayern Munchen vs. Milan (!!!)
.Benfica vs. Liverpool
.Real Madrid vs. Arsenal (!!!)
.PSV vs. Lyon
.Chelsea vs. Barcelona (!!!): probably the best 2 teams around Europe
.Rangers vs. Villareal
.Bremen vs. Juve
.Ajax vs. Inter (!!!)
As we see all matches will be very interesting, and it will be a difficult task to eliminate the contrary. I think that Milan, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Lyon, Chelsea, Villareal, Juve and Inter will pass to the next round. What do you guys think?
bye! rmcf

I agree with most of your predictions, but I have to balance out your biased opition with my own. Wink I have no doubt Barca will have their revenge on Chelsea. They really should have beat them last year, and this time there will be no mistakes! If the form they are in now continues after the break, nobody will have a chance against them.

Also, Madrid are playing like crap now. Arsenal isn't in their best form either, but I think they are certainly capable of winning.

Visca el Barca! Smile

Stellar matchups indeed! Will be interesting to see who ESPN2 decides to show in the US, probably the Chelsea-Barcelona match...

I'd go with the following to move through:
Bayern Munich
Liverpool
Real Madrid
Lyon *my pick to win it all
Barcelona
Rangers
Juventus
Ajax

With the new coach things are running much better. Just see the last match vs. Malaga. Also news say here in Spain that new players may come for the winter market:
.Cassano from the Roma (rumour)
.Cicinho (who's has already signed a contract).
Anyway, even if Arsenal is also playing quite bad, we can't deny it's a very interesting match.

I am really looking forward to a bunch of awesome games, Munich vs. Milan, Real vs. Arsenal, and Chelsea vs. Barcelona are definitely interesting to watch, these teams are the European football elite.

The Rangers have probably the easiest game and Bremen probably the most difficult. I would bet 100 EUR or more that Bremen is out ofter this round, it would be more than a miracle when they would beat Juve.

It's a miracle, that Werder and the Rangers made it to the next round  Wink

My two favourites to win the CL this year would have to be Barcelona and Lyon (by the way they played during the Group stage), Lyon being in the better position to move through to the next round. Hopefully the Chelsea - Barcelona game will be as entertaining as last years Big grin
