Crazy Weather In Your Country?

Tue Dec 20, 2005 2:07 pm

One of the things I love about this time of the year is the weather. Mmm, cold weather - the perfect excuse for a cup of hot chocolate, or better yet, some delicious ponche!

However, these days weather here has been hot as hell... I even got a f***ing sunburn yesterday!  mad  And to make things worse, it even rained a couple of days ago. WTF?! How am I supposed to keep the Christmas lights in the garden if it's raining?  crazy

Am I the only one, or has the weather gone wacko at your place too?

Saludos  santahat

Funny, the one time I've been away from home at this time of the year was precisely MEX, back in '94. Cold indeed...  cold

Then again, I got to enjoy the beaches at Acapulco before returning  Smile

It's been freakishly warm in Alaska as well, at least in Fairbanks. On Friday, it was 40 freakin degrees! In December, it should be no higher than 0.

Argentina is enjoying the most beautiful weather of the entire world, it seems. It is between 15C/60F & 24C/76F in most of the country, which is very unusual since it's either cool in the south, hellish hot in the north, and stormy in between. The temperatures are incredebly confortable everywhere. And no floods, severe storms, hurricanes, blizzards, or extreme droughts...

It was nice here today. Highs in the 80s. It's been a rough winter so far.

In Boulder before I left...one day we had 80 mph+ winds, and the next day we had temps around 0 degrees F...two crazy weather extremes there...

Weather in extreme northern Alaska has been unseasonably cold . . .

Mid-November it got down to -40s . . . and stayed there for a week plus.

I expect -40s in January and February but not in November.

Anchorage weather has been unseasonably moderate. I'd suspect this was the usual spring breakup if it weren't December. Temps above 0F and roads are reasonably clear.

Here the temperature is continuously between -2 and 2. But everyone knows the real problems are:

- The strong frozen wind, that breaks umbrellas and reaches through whatever clothes you are wearing.

- A kind of drizzle that is actually a) invisible, b) yet frozen and punches like needles on your face.

Beuuuuuuuuuurk.

I remember playing in a football match about 2 years ago. Within the 90 minutes we encountered:

Warm sunshine
Rain
Hail
Snow
Strong Winds
Thunder and Lightening

Now if thats not crazy for a 90 minute spell I don't know what is.

It's been snowing for 2 days in Luxembourg. Most of it melted today, and now the temperature has dropped again. I just had to dash off to the bank during my lunch break and it was friggin cold (either that, or I'm getting old). Tomorrow the weather will be cold and cloudy so that's quite boring.

Look at the TAF for Vienna (I am flying there tomorrow), it seems to be a lot more promising weather there. It's going to be an awesome approach into the airport, muahahaha  devil

It's been rather cool in Dallas the past couple days, at least compared to what it was to start the month (temperature has been between 88*F and 16*F, and that was in the same week). Low overcast with scattered showers and snow flurries throughout the day here. 38*F now, not supposed to really change for the rest of the day.

Our weather can be pretty strange here, though: highest temperature ever recorded in December in Dallas was 89*F on Christmas Day; lowest was 1*F on Christmas Day  Smile

Hell yeah! Scary approaches into airports are much more exciting... If I'm not too tired and fall asleep, I'll be asking to get into the flight deck again. Should be fun Big grin

The town I live in averages 3.05 inches of rainfall for the entire month of December. That was surpassed in one day last week after we recieved 4 inches of rain. Not to mention being hit by four hurricanes in the past two years!
