Question About The Internet

Tue Dec 20, 2005 4:23 pm

This is for school. What do you like most about the internet, what values does the internet bring to you? What other information would you like to see from the internet that would bring more value to you?

The knowledge that there are teachers out there who dream up class assignments even more inane than I could do on my worst day.  banghead

Dude, just make up a bunch of answers that make sense. How's your teacher going to know who they came from? Sonny, it's time to learn the fine art of bullshitting  Wink

Hi,
I think that the Internet is great at bringing people with like minded interests together.....whatever their interests  Wink. This creates a community of people who otherwise would never have been able to share their views/ opinions. This can also result in action being taken. An example of this was when apple released their Ipod Nano. As a result of complaints online, they took back the faulty units.

On the internet everyone is equal and in most cases you can surf anonymously...

You can also buy items at discounts compared to high street shops.

It would be great to be able to stream TV programs to the computer to watch once they have been shown on TV. This would allow me to watch air crash investigation and other programs that are put on at some stupid time of the night.

Funny, I've been doing that with my VCR for 20 years. Yes, I actually know how to program my VCR.  Wink

Matt's thoughts echo my own. It's a great source for getting information much faster than more traditional media -- especially print. I really noticed the difference when I started getting computer news online; hearing about new products right away, then reading about the same thing a month or two later in Macworld.

When I was younger, I thought I was weird for liking commercial airplanes but not being interested in military aircraft. Then I got on AOL, and discovered that there was a forum where people were uploading pictures of commercial airplanes, so it wasn't that strange after all. I was looking at AirNikon's photos a couple years before A.net went online.
