Current Favorite Songs On Radio

Sat Dec 24, 2005 1:13 am

Hi people!

I was just wondering what is your favorite song right now thats being played on Radio. NOT your favorite of all time, just what new release you can't get enough of. New being what has been released within the last 6 months or so.

Me, I love:

Rihanna "Pon the Replay," Twista "Hit the floor," and D4L "Laffy Taffy."

You mean the same tired pre-packaged mass produced talentless noise that the radio has been churning out for the last 15 years? The same stuff you claim to can't get enough of today-but in 3 months will be tired of-when its airplay gets cut back?

None of it. I'll stick to tried and true "flashback" radio.

Just FYI: our "old fart" music such as Tom Petty could sell out Dodger stadium 20 years ago. Could sell out Dodger Stadium today. Will be able to sell out Dodger stadium 20 years from now.

How many of your "can't get enough of" acts today can and will be able to make similar claims?

My guess?

None. It's all hit and run. Milk the shit out of it for 6 months while you can, and then never hear from them again.

MTV and todays music industry is depending on conformity whores such as yourself to stay in business since finding talent and music that's actually appealing and can last longer than this weeks Top 40 is no longer a priority.

I agree. I bought my parents tickets to see Tom Petty a few years back for their anniversary. It turned out to be a sell out show.

Yes, it was a simple question asking people what their current favorite song on radio is.

"Walking With The Ghost" by Tegan & Sara and covered by The White Stripes.
"Get Down With It" by The Woggles
"Since You Been Away" by The Maharajas
"Love In A Trashcan" The Raveonettes
"Patterned Skies" The Greenhornes
"Casino" By the Gore Gore Girls

Most of these, if not all of them, require having satellite radio or a local station that broadcasts Little Steven's Underground Garage in order to here them. But I'm sure some college stations are cool enough to play them.

The new Goo Goo Dolls tune is pretty good, along with Death Cab for Cutie's "Soul Meets Body," that's about it. Nickelback...just no. It needs to stop.

Ones I'll crank up when I hear them on the radio (internet, xfm.co.uk) as Houston's radio (ob)scene blows...

Kaiser Chiefs - Modern Way
Hard-Fi - Living for the Weekend
The Subways - No Goodbyes (love this track)
Franz Ferdinand - Walk Away
Gorillaz - Dirty Harry (wickedly cool)
"Irregardless, it's a Cat III airplane, we don't need an alternate!"
