New Years Honours List

Sat Dec 31, 2005 9:37 am

is now out and once again I've missed out.

Nice to see the July 7 people getting recognised, whatever your take on the honours thing. And Vivienne Westwood gets made a Dame!

reading down the list (nope...no DBE for me...) Sir Tom Jones and Sir John Dankworth for services to music.

No Sir Patrick Stewart again...curses! I even wrote to Number 10 a couple of years back nominating him.

One is disappointed that once again one has been overlooked.

One is also saddened that one's compatriot, QantasForever has been given the regal finger, so to speak. It will totally have ruined his New Year.  Big grin

Now, maybe if he had done something useful with his life, like looking after Big Ben for 25 years, things might have turned out differently.

Cheers

Why didn't Little Britain get honored for being the queen of chavs?

Your Gracious Royal Majesty,

It is with deep pride and great pleasure that I express my profound thanks for the honour that Your Majesty has bestowed upon me for services to Republicanism.

Yours ever,

The Right Honourable Sir Qantas Forever, AK, GCMG, GCVO, QC.

P.S: For those less familiar with our exceptionally logical and brilliant Royal Honours system, included is his explanation for the acronyms: CMG "Call me God", KCMG "Kindly Call me God" and GCMG "God Calls me God".

I knew it would probably only be you who would pick up on that. Big grin Happy New Year.

Surprised the Australians on this post havent noticed that all the english cricket team who managed to scrap a win against the baggy green caps in the ashes have all been honoured with either MBE or OBE. Would have thought give all the media hype Freddie Flintoff would have got a life peerage at least.

Complete the following catchphrase:

"Nice to see you, to see you......."  Big grin

Just think, in 20 years time we will have Sir Ricky Gervais and Dame Davina McCall

...nice"

He was using that catchphrase when he was hosting the Generation Game. He doesn't still use it, does he?

Why is it not Sir Stephen Hawking yet. Better than those celebrity and sporting twits.

Because he wouldn't be able to get down on one knee to be knighted.
