Nothing. It was the best day of my life when I left for university.
But that was when I ruled the world

I had a great "at home " relationship with my parents.

What i miss most is my mom's cooking and watching hockey with my dad, at least the first two periods because he fell asleep for the third.  Wink

Same for me (was a mach2 by the way) but when my Moroccan neighbour thought it was ok for her to to use it for her mustache, I know it was time for me to move out.

How was it to live at home until your early 30s?

Actually it was a Gillette Sensor but I've just been watching the latest Peter Kay DVD I got for Christmas and that was one of the jokes. Big grin

Clean laundry
Different food other than pasta, sandwiches, or the occasional chicken dish.
No rent
No bills

Actually, that's because I live with my mum again now - and it's great. No complaints at all since I moved back in.

I still live with my parents, just wish I had a place of my own. I used to live by myself when I worked away and loved it. I love it when the folks go on holiday and I have the place to myself.

Exactly. I moved back in once my father died. Now I keep wishing I'd never have left in the first place.

I just left my parents house last April at the age of 21. I had been paying them rent since 19, so it was not like they were really pushing me to leave. I just felt it was the right time. Anyway, I really miss having my dad as a drinking buddy. When I was not on the road, we'd just sit out on our back patio, drink beer, and talk about life. It was good times. Anytime that we do get together now, we try to continue the tradition, but we don't always have time.

Didn't have to pay for food, or make much of it.

It's interesting to see the cultural variation in attitudes about living with one's parents, in addition of course to the variation caused by everyone's individual circumstances.

I am glad to be living on my own, but I miss the following things the most (not in any kind of sorted order):

Company (my dad and I got along very well)
Living in a nice house vs. a rather shabby apartment
Having someone to help me cook
Having someone else to get groceries  Smile

I have to say that this simple response has humbled me ... a timely reminder of how precious our parents are and how much we will miss them when one day they are no longer around , I feel a bit ashamed of my own rather flippant response earlier in the thread .

My mom died aged 42 from a stroke. My dad is still around in his 60's now but I only see him about once a year.  Sad

Well as others have mentioned some things are good some things are not as good.

My living by myself constitutes living in a former patient room of a renovated hospital in North Oxford, so based on that, these are the good things:

1. More space (physical) at home than in my 10 square metre room.

2. Mamma's home cooking

3. There is a TV there.

4. Easier to see parents when you live with them

5. Our beagle lives with them
