Researchers Breed Fluorescent Green Pig

Fri Jan 13, 2006 11:42 pm

One of my other interests is animal agriculture and I subscribe to a listserv from the University of Guelph in Canada called AnimalNet run by Doctor Doug Powell, take a bow, Doug. If you're interested here's the signup info.

To subscribe to the html version of AnimalNet, send mail to:
(subscription is free)
listserv@listserv.uoguelph.ca
leave subject line blank
in the body of the message type:
subscribe animalnet-L firstname lastname
i.e. subscribe animalnet -L Doug Powell
(replace animalnet-L with annettext to subscribe to the text version)

This was in the news today. Apparently those wonderful folks in Taiwan have succeeded in breeding a transgenic, fluorescent green pig.

And you thought the US was the home of evil transgenic agriculture. heh heh

Here is a picture of the pigs. I saw it earlier on the website of the German tabloid "Bild":

Well, you won't need a light in the refrigerator any more when it's time to chuck a slab of bacon on the range or stir up some bangers and mash as you fellows are prone to do at times.

I do not like green ham and eggs.

I do not like them on the shelf
I do not like them there in Guelph
I would not eat them with a fork
I would not eat that glowing pork
