Sirius S50 Receiver -- Yes/No?

Sat Jan 14, 2006 12:36 pm

To anyone who may have the Sirius S50 receiver..

I'm thinking of purchasing one, but i'm not sure as you can't listen to sirius broadcasts live when it's not docked..

If you've got it, can you list the pros/cons of the device??

Thanks all!

As far as I know, any portable siriuis units do not receive when undocked, but only to play prerecorded material. The best thing to do to that or any other sirius unit, is to kick it down by your feet to warm them up during the winter.

Reports are that Sirius will be releasing a fully portable receiver sometime this year.

I have it and I think it's good. I actually thought you could listen to the live broadcast anywhere but soon learned that wasn't the case. I would say that's the only "con". Besides that, it is a pretty cool device. I mean, you get sirius radio in your car, an MP3 player, and for an extra $100 (home docking station) you can listen to it at home....although, you can also listen to live broadcast online.

Overall, NOT impressive and maybe a bit over-priced but still good.

Although to be honest, mine is still in the box and now that I'm hearing of a new one, more advanced coming out........mine is going back.  Big grin

Btw, gotta LOVE Sirius radio....especially channel 106: Out Q Gay Radio.....LOVE IT!!!!!!!

Live for Today.....tomorrow is NOT guaranteed.
