My parents took me to a Drive In to see "Sleeping Beauty", that had to have been in '66 or 67.

It was "Willow" in 1988 - and was absolute rubbish!

You see I went to "Willowbrook School" and the heads thought it would be good for us all to go and see it.....what a load of crap!

Toy Story. I remember exactly where the cinema was. The theater is no longer there but the mall is.

Robinson Crusoe on Mars!

(Second film I remember seeing was Mary Poppins, that came out two months later.)

I can remember when I was very young (late 1960s) going to see ...

The Aristrocats
Song of the South
MASH
Patton
(I was raised by my grandparents, and went to a lot of mature films)

and I will never forget seeing the original Airport in 1970, when I was 5 years old ...

also, being a native Atlantan, I will never forget seeing "Gone With The Wind" on the big screen when I was 8 years old, in 1973 ... back then, you could ALWAYS find at least one theatre in Atlanta showing GWTW at any given moment ...

Batman, the original, not this modern rubbish, must have been 1967 or thereabouts.

Come on, the old 60's batmans may be classics, but they were campy and totally different than the new batman movies. The new batman movies (excluding Batman Forever and Batman and Robin) are pretty fucking good (especially the first Batman w/ Michael Keaton and Batman Begins with Christian Bale). The new Batman is more like the actual comic.

Well, got y'all beat on longevity anyway.

Some of the early ones I remember were:

Rocketship XM - about 1950
The Halls of Montezuma - about 1950
Mister 880 - about 1950
Blood on the Moon - about 1948
Bambi - Came out in 1942, I saw it about 1948

Then we moved to a town that didn't have a theater.

The first Star Wars movie in '77 was my first - didn't catch my second until "ET" came out, however.

Bambi in 1964. I laughed when Bambi's mother died.

A few years ago, I went to see it when I was quite shitfaced. I was asked to leave after I stood up and cheered when Bambi's mother was shot.

Granted but to me they capture the moment far better, the new dark, gothic ones are cool, I've seen them all but they don't bring back the memories of days when talking to someone on a video phone was something too far out to believe it could ever happen....now my kids do it as a matter of course!

Hi guys.

The first movie I remember seeing in a Theater/Cinema was in the mid 1970s & was a Sinbad movie called the "Seventh Voyage of Sinbad". That one & the other Sinbad movies were really cool.

My next visit to the theater was for a double feature. The two movies were "Rollerball" with James Caan & "Jesus Christ Superstar".

My first visit to a Drive In theater was to watch a cool Burt Reynolds movie called "White Lightning".

I was like 3 (so it was around 1983) and I saw "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" at a movie theater. At least that is the first one I remember. When I was small, my dad would take me to see short films at the local library, so it is possible that I saw something before that. Whether I saw something at an actual movie theater before this, I cannot recall.

The first movie I remember going to was 2001: Space Odyssey. I loved it, and insisted on going to see it a couple of times, and I remember being very confused and dissappointed when the theater stopped showing it. I simply could not understand that movies did not stay in the same theater forever  Smile

I'm pretty sure it was "Oliver and Company" when I was 4 or so...I recall the first live-action "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" movie was among the first I saw as well.
