What Is Your Interpretation, If Any, Of Hell?

Thu Jan 19, 2006 5:51 am

Questions are pretty self-explanatory, I asked this a while ago, but thought I'd bring it back up again since the demographics of A.net have changed quite a bit:

Do you believe in Hell?

...if so, what's your interpretation thereof:
  • Literal fire & brimstone?
  • The abstract absense of all goodness?
  • ...what?

Serious responses only, and no politics please.

    Still no.

Both heaven & hell are imagined places - the more belief you're pumping into them, the more they'll figure in your daily life...!

    Nice decoration, though!  devil

    Hi,
In Hell, within 10 posts every thread created on a.net turns into an A V B and is then locked around the 100 post mark, 10 mins later......  Wink  duck

Getting onto serious suggestions, I think Hell will probably be just a lack of pleasures that are given out in heaven. Hell can either be seen as a place of negative experiences or just a place of no positive experiences. The positives in my heaven include such things as a 15 minutely Concorde flight to different parts of Heaven. Money would be non existent.

You will know how it is in hell, once the moderators gonna find out what have you done to the background, and when they will ban you from a.net. You'll see how it is to live without a.net.

    THAT IS HELL !!!!

I remember this background. Let's see if people's browsers have advanced so that they can now handle it.

As for me, I believe in both heaven and hell, and you will go to one or the other when you die. Hell is described in the Bible as a fiery pit with screaming and gnashing of teeth. Fundamentally, hell is separation from God. Since God is Truth, Mercy, Faith, all the good stuff....hell will surely be unpleasent.

Are you doomed to dwell in hell forever if you don't accept Jesus in this life? I don't know. Can people accept salvation and be redeemed after they die? After all, Jesus Himself went down into hell and came back out, but He's God.

    Seriously....

I don't believe in flames, devils, etc.

Hell, as obviously opposite to heaven is state of mind; how you feel.
In heaven you feel good, happy, safe...
In hell you are all the time you are fretful, disturb, worried, you cannot calm your-self down.... you feel like "something is going to happen soon".

    At least, something like this....

Because I don't believe in either heaven or hell, or the concept that there is an entity judging me and determining the fate of my soul after I die. The measure of my life is how I impact the world around me while I'm alive, and once I'm gone, I'm gone.

I do not believe in hell (or heaven). It is not compatible with anything I believe.

When I was Christian I didn't believe they were actual locations - I always thought they were emotional places experienced after death by the mind, if it was close to God/You could feel his presence/It felt good it was heaven, if you couldn't, land you felt depressed and down lt was hell.

Now of course I believe that the only thing we do after death is decay.

IMHO it is only to show, that there is "BAAAAAAAAAD" over (under?) there. It was, and apparently is, used to help people build a vision of hell, by using things that people are afraid of. Fire will make you suffer, it is going to burn you... slowly. Because of heat you will not be able to breath, it will burn from the inside - YOU WILL SUFFER. Darkness will make you scared.
And, of course, there has to be someone that is opposite to God, someone bad, "supervisor" of your suffering. And there comes the devil(s).

I think of Heaven and Hell as a state of mind - how you will feel, what is going to bother you, it will not let you forget about the bad thing you have done to others, you will feel bad, really, really bad - that kind of suffer.
