Fri Jan 20, 2006 4:16 am

Anyone see the first round of auditions in Denver? The first show is on tomorrow night here in the UK.

The early episodes with the auditions from Hell are priceless, and Simon's comments! My first name being Simon, I take pride in it all. And, Paula Abdul is still a hottie. I'd do her! Once the show gets more serious, it sucks because, basically, the music of today is lacking and it all sounds the same watered down crap to please the bean counter drug sniffing suits/lawyers in the music industry.

What the hell was the story with the guy named Zachary who dressed and sounded like a woman, but said he was a man? He was truly surprised that any of the judges noticed. He seemed more surprised that they commented on it. He must have taped the shit out of his package, because it wasn't there!

The Wyoming cowboy kid was cool. Never flown. Never been anywhere. Lives in a town of 4 people. I think the judges were really nice to cut him some slack if he could clean up his voice. He'll be really surprised when he gets to LA.

As for Zachary ... what the hell was that ??!!!! I couldn't believe that he was a guy ... and then he gets pissed because people thought he was a girl??

I would like to know what gives some of these people at the auditions the idea that they can sing! Zippyjet, I agree with you 100% about Paula Abdul!

I thought the really wackey/crazy guy that was jumping everywhere (I think it was the Chicago audition) is really funny. I still like Paula Abdul (actually reminds me of a friend of mine.) The best part of the show are the facial expressions of the judges during the auditions.

The ultimate best part of the show was were one of the auditioners did one of Abdul's songs and Simon said to the candidate that she did it better than the original performer.  Wink

Hrmmm, they were. But now the early shows are just a bunch of William Hung wannabes, hoping to get discovered for their 15 split-seconds of fame.

I'll go out on a limb and predict that the 16yr old girl Lisa Tucker who was picked by Variety (or some magazine like that) to be a face of the future, ends up in the top 10. Simon was quite impressed with her talent, as was I, but then again, I'm not a music critic.

I liked it when the guy in green (I think he was in green anyway) came out and sang two words and Simon said that's enough. The guy was totally pissed!!! I love the early episodes. True stupid humor. Did you here the twins, the two that could sing, got arrested? Apparently forgery.

Hey look, even if the cowboy kid gets cut in first rounds in CA, he at least gets a paid trip on a plane...

And what about the inventor kid with the coaster, and the one who wore yellow check PJ's? Even IF they could sing, the lack of brains would offset it.

Or the suntan girl? "If I only had a brain" seems to be the song these should try and sing!

There was a girl on first show who make it thru (don't recall name/state) who, to me, sounded one of the best that were approved...was that Lisa Tucker?

God above, they show this in the UK?  banghead

It's bad enough that those evil bastards at ITV invent the concept and do nothing else but show endless variations on the theme (wrecking any possible interest in the charts whilst they're at it); not only do they then trash the US music scene by exporting the idea to them, but they then re-import the bloody thing back here!  grumpy

Crap, crap, crap.

More imaginative programmes from ITV  Yeah sure

Dear God there can only be one thing worse than our own TV pop star wannabes and thats American popstar wannabes trying to impersonate Mariah Carey or some other god awful singer  grumpy

Yeah but, it still is high comedy, better than much of the drivel on TV that passes for comedy with the exceptions of My Name Is Earl. Most sitcoms are either vapid white bread family stuff or, obnoxious New York yuppies who work in publishing and or the media all with straight hair and buff bodies with a Gay (not that there is anything wrong with it) theme. Enough of the "Friends" clones already; no wonder why shows like Lost and all the Jerry Bruckheimer CBS franchises are ratings champs. And of course the sundry collection of other reality shows are not worth wasting precious time!

I sat through about 20 minutes of it the other night while I was eating dinner, and couldn't stand it any more.

Plenty of squeal like a pig action or lack of anything else.

To be honest I actually hate the latter parts of the show. But the bits worth watching are always the auditions to see the put-downs from the panel.

Did you hear about the two twins from ORD that made it to Hollywood? I just saw on the news today that one was arrested for using a fake identity to purchase a car and the other was expected to turn himself in. I wonder if that means no Hollywood for them?
