LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Actor Chris Penn has died in a Santa Monica residence, with no signs of foul play, a local ABC television affiliate reported on Tuesday
Penn, 43, was the brother of actor Sean Penn and starred in dozens of films.

He played baby-faced criminal Nice Guy Eddie Cabot in director Quentin Tarantino's "Reservoir Dogs" and starred along with his brother in the 1986 film "At Close Range." He also played Willard Hewitt in "Footloose" in 1984.

Recently, Penn voiced Officer Eddie Pulaski in the video game "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas."

Santa Monica police and the Los Angeles County Coroner were not immediately available for comment.

Where's a picture of a donkey when you need one? Such a fine human being, L-188.

Sad for his family, but why is this important to anyone else?

May his family find comfort, though, in their grief.

He was pretty over weight, maybe heart problems? I last saw him
on "Entourage" last year.

I hope it wasn't a John Belushi/ River Phoenix/Chris Farley cocktail.

That's a shame, he was a good actor. I think he was considerably overweight, perhaps he went the way of John Candy. I must say, I like him a whole lot more than his awful actor brother Sean.

I don't know him but i played San Andreas. Great game but Pulaski was a sideshow anyway.

Guys, speaking ill of the dead (barring a mass murderer or serial rapist), or their family in a time of grief is low class no matter how you feel about a particular member of that family.

You can add this donkey to that herd, Falcon.

I liked Chris Penn in Pale Rider. He was pretty slender in that flick, but he was still in his late teens when it was made.

Condolences to his family. Even Sean, he needs all the comfort he can get.

Just wanted to agree with Homer71, that he was great in these movies. I especially recommend True Romance for anyone that has not seen it.

From the above-web-linked article:
Penn, 40, was a character actor who appeared in dozens of films including "Reservoir Dogs," "Mulholland Falls" and the 2004 film "Starsky & Hutch."

I believe 40 was Chris Penn's correct age. The newscast I saw this morning also mentioned that he was 40. Wow, he's only 9 days older than me.

I first him saw in the 1984 film The Wild Life with Eric Stoltz. His character drove a late '60s vintage (I'm guessing a '68) Lincoln Continental with the top chopped off.

Famous recurring line from the film, "It's casual."

True, but I believe that even then; he was taller & bigger than his older brother.

Good actor, bit of a shock.
Good in Reservoir Dogs, Good in True Romance, the ones that come immediately to mind.

(As I am secure in my general beliefs, I choose not to wish death on his brother, himself a fine actor and good director, or care much about his political beliefs, then again I'm not living in a neo McCarthy era either).
