Pe@rson To Be An Uncle

Thu Jan 26, 2006 6:06 am

I will, at the end of July, become an uncle for the first time, courtesy of my brother and his wife.

I have already pre-ordered the forthcoming 'Ryanair For Babies' book; after all, it's important to begin as you mean to continue.  Wink

I don't know how to feel, really. I hate children! They're noisy, irritating, restrictive, expensive...  Silly Thankfully it won't be mine.  Wink

I don't know. I only found out about it tonight (when it was announced to us all). I don't see what I could offer a kid at the moment, other than love - I'm too busy and won't be living near-by soon, etc.

A piece of advise. Try to stay away and wait for your sister to ask for your help. Otherwise, pointing out to her what an **** her husband is, would only make you a bad one and it would ruin your relations with your sister. After all, who knows, he might be better than you thought. Just be patient.

Thanks, but I have my reasons for hating the guy.  Smile

I should mention that he has hit her on at least one occasion, something which I completely despise.

I can't stand a guy who gets a kick out of beating up a woman.

I told him if he ever hit her again, he would be dealt with.

I'm really sorry. Now I understand why you despise him. He deserves it.

Well, you are definitely very patient. If it was my sister (fortunately I'm a single child), I probably wouldn't think twice to give him a lesson or two and I guess you know what kind of lessons I have in mind wink

Unfortunately, there isn't much you can do. It is an ugly situation, but your sister must make some decisions by herself first, and then you can offer all the support to her. First of all, she should know how lucky she is for having a brother that cares for her. Believe me, many wouldn't care at all. Eventually, she will have to make some difficult choices, but in the meantime, let her do it by herself and let her know that she can count on you.

Also, it's not that bad to have four kids at the age of 21. It is hard, but, hey... in a few years time you will have no problems in finding company to go spotting. Just take all of them with you biggrin

Anyway, I completely understand you. It must be very hard for you.

Hey Pe@rson,

Some things to look forward to as an 'Uncle'

1. Buying loud noisy toys (drum sets etc) for the kid to beat on.
2. Feed him sugar about an hour before they are supposed to go to bed.
3. Spoiling them rotten at Christmas and on birthdays.
4. Handing it back to its mom when it starts to smell, with the quote 'Not my part ship' or 'I didn't sign up for that'.

Pearson,

am an uncle twice - my sister had twin boys who will be 5 this year. Yes I do spoil them rotten on xmas / birthdays & holiday gifts.

Am godparent to 1 of them (boy is he in trouble) but its better just being a fav uncle. Fortunately they live a short distance away and so I get to see them often. There is nothing quite like seeing the excitement on their faces when they see you.

Make the most of the time with them - the 5 years has gone by very quickly.

He/she'll have a terrible time at school if anyone ever lets out you are related to him/her! Big grin

Ah well, I suppose I had better wish you all the best (grudgingly)  wink

Congrats! Enjoy it as long as it's in the womb! Once they come out and start talking that's when the sh*t hits the fan! I remember my nephew making fun of me for being Asian...well he kept calling me Chinese and did the having little eyes thing going "Ching Chang Choong"...and I thought to myself...Dude, you are half Asian yourself! I pinned him on the ground telling him to stop so long until he started crying....HARHARHARHAR!!!!

My nephew is not 14 and my niece is 16. She's gonna be having sex soon and everything...OMG! This really freaks me out. I feel so old.

He/she would say: I'm so glad James is my uncle. He's extremely caring, supportive and considerate. He doesn't take any nonsense, though, but we do lots together. He doesn't like it when I am not polite or courteous, so I have to practice those. He also doesn't like it when I put off my homework, so I do it as soon as I get it. My uncle's lovely.  Wink

And if he/she mentions the refreshments, I'll kindly say that nothing's free at all - it's all included in the price.

Could be. Maybe Orion and Pe@rson are one and the same person with completely split personalities a la Jekyll and Hyde.

The most horrific thing is that this is true more often than you think.
I don't know if you know the village Dulverton in Exmoor but I had to go out to wokr there one day every week and the whole town is run by one family! we used to say. They, too, have a lot of disabilities down there due to in-familiy shagging . And that is not only true for Dulverton. It's true for the whole West Country.

LMAO.  Wink

Nope. Just that where I live it isn't exactly convenient. A one-daily frequency to STN (and late-at-night) from an airport 1 1/2 hours away isn't that useful.

You know how inconvenient it is living in this part of the world (when you lived here).

If I lived in Essex or Cambridge, I'd fly every weekend somewhere different. Big grin

I flew KL 4x in June; AI, IC, EK, 9W in Dec; and shorter trips on several other airlines (mainly BD) in other months.

I'm just glad that I didn't live there.

LOL.  Wow! Yes, I know Dulverton. I also believe it's in Somerset. We lovely Devonians don't partake in anything as crude as that. The Cornish do, though.

angel  Don't forget that Dulverton is almost Devon. If you go there by bus from Taunton you are almost all the way in Devon. You just pop back into Somerset shortly before Dulverton.  Wink

There is one problem with airbus. Though their products are engineering marvels they lack passion, completely.

I hate children!

You should try to develop a more positive attitude towards children. I am Godfather to a girl, and uncle to half a dozen children, and grand-uncle to one boy --- and hope that I am quite appreciated in that "role".  thumbsup   champagne

Nonsense. Dulverton is in Somerset. 'Nuff said.  Big grin
