Another Question About PS2 Slim Version...

Sun Feb 05, 2006 10:40 pm

Here is something that I've been wondering about lately:

Is the PS2 slim version in general not capable of playing audio CDs and certain PS1 games, or is it just mine that's f***ed up?

Hi
It should play audio CD's. I have just tried an audio CD on my brothers PlayStation 2 slim line and it has not problems playing it.

Matt

P.S Good luck fixing it, hopefully it is easy to sort out.

Well that sucks... I have never been able to play audio CDs on mine.

And as I have no clue where the receipt is gone, I'm not very likely to get to swap it at WHSmiths anyway.

Guess I'm screwed...

Hi,
What happens when you put the CD into the drive and turn it on. On my brothers it automatically loads up the CD menu which is a load of boxes with the track numbers on. Have you tried using a different music disk?

I have pressed the "reset" button several times. All I get is "unable to read disc".

Is the lens dirty? The disc could also need a cleaning,

wipe the CD again and give it a try. Is hte CD scratched? WAs it a burned CD?

My rother gave me one of his slim PS2s and I had the problem with hte audio as well. BUt after a few tries, it worked again, . It is weird.

Also, I have a few ps1 games that I do want to play. And they play fine. BUT, they wont SAVE to the memeory card in the slim version.

Overall its a quirky version, for lack of a better word.

I hope PS3 will incororate the features of the first 2 and play back those games too. If so, I'll be sure to grab that and ditch the slim ps2.

Doubt it, but will check it out. I've made sure the CDs were clean, but never thought of checking the lens.

According to Sony, the PS3 will be backwards compatible with PS1 and PS2 games.
