The Non-Political / Non-Religious Thread

Mon Feb 06, 2006 12:56 am

--- The Thread that's NOT about Denmark ---

There are hardly any threads left in NonAv that don't have anything to do with the ongoing conflict between the Muslim world and Denmark/Western Countries. So I've decided to start a thread...

The Non-Political / Non-Religious Thread!

You can discuss anything here, except anything that's even remotely political, ideological and/or religious.

Let me start with this: It is a common misconception that mammoths were much larger than modern elephants, an error that has led to "mammoth" being used as an adjective meaning "very big". Most species of mammoth were only about as large as a modern Indian elephant.

Here's a Mammoth for you:

Sorry, I don't think a discussion about mammoths is going to capture many people's attention.

1) This is not a discussion about Mammoths
2) Cursed be the person who doesn't capitalize the word Mammoth
3) It sure captured your attention!

Miscellaneous fact: Contrary to popular misconception, cavemen did not co-exist with dinosaurs.

Not deleted, since there's nothing to argue about it'll drop pretty quick.

OK, since this is a nice, peaceful thread, I want to ask a question. Maybe I'm old, maybe I don't get out much, or maybe it's because I'm not European, but what exactly does "chav" mean? Is it like "cool"? Just wondered because I have seen it several times but I am not familiar with the expression.  old

Back to the mammoth:

There have been mammoth found in the permafrost of Siberia, which had still fresh plant's in there stomach. Some of the scientists explained that with a sudden flood and a following sudden freeze of the water! The plant's in the stomach of the mammoth growed only in subtropical and tropical country's. Amazing how that event changed really sudden the climate there, and worldwide.

Patrick

Maybe we should combine the two: New thread title, "The Sex Lives of Mammoths".
