Brokeback Brando

Mon Feb 13, 2006 10:00 am

So, apart from sleeping around with half of Hollywood's leading ladies and seeminly all the gay ones, Marlon Brando also had a long term relationship with his old buddy, comedian Wally Cox. After Brando's death, Cox's ashes were mixed with his, and were together scattered in Tahiti and Death Valley, California.

All this is revealed in a new book "Brando Unzipped" by Darwin Porter, who was a neighbour and friend of Tennesse Williams, another of Brando's secucers.

According to the book, Brando once admitted that he had never been happy with a woman, saying "If Wally had been a woman I would have married him and we would have lived happily ever after".

Are we shocked? No. Hollywood has never been known for its sexual conservatism. Are we surprised? No. probably the handsomest (in his early years) and masculine of film stars would have been hit on my thousands of people, male and female, during his prime and and that famous casting couch undoubtedly applied to males as well as females.

I've never heard of Wally Cox, but according to the book he was a weedy, nerdy type. Is this true Aero? Any pics of him?

I kinda had a feeling that something would come out sometime, but nothing like this. For someone very handsome like Brando, he would have been hit on by people everywhere, both female and male. Add to that his poor and dysfunctional background, a heavy dose of ambition, the party circuit in Hollywood and it's really not surprising at all.

Well in the end of Brando's life, an expression that Mom always had that describes him, "He went to hell in a hand basket!" Basically he totally let himself go.

DOn't take the dude's words out of context. Brando did let himself go in his later years. He never memorized lines, insisting on working with earpieces to be fed lines, and he was notoriously difficult to work with for most people.

He also let himself get incredibly out of shape, which contributed to his health issues.

Brandos sexuality, which is not certain other than he did certainly father several children in and out of wedlock, is no ones business and some guy who publishes a book to say that which Brando did not in life is by no means fact. It's one mans word. Some will accept it because they want to, others won't for the same reason.

Others will immediately leap on a set of words and quote them out of context in an attack in order to stir the pot.

No what I meant was how he physically let himself go, the weight gain and all.

Oh, ok. Yeah, he did let himself go. It played well in the Godfather movies, though Smile

I'm naturally suspicious, particularly where the entertainment industry is concerned. It is fuelled with ambition, drink, money, drugs and parties, and we only know the tip of the iceberg of what goes on behind the scenes.

If the truth were known a lot of illusions would be shattered big time.

A friend of a friend of mine was a paralegal in the law firm that represented Rock Hudson during the time the studio was marrying him off. Damn, the old gal has stories to tell.
