Brit Awards Vote: British Group?

Wed Feb 15, 2006 5:31 am

The 2006 Brit Awards will be handed out in London on 15 February.Who you think most deserves to win the trophy?

Coldplay
Franz Ferdinand
Gorillaz
Hard Fi
Kaiser Chiefs

I hope Franz Ferdinand win. I think they will.

Tough - I highly rate Kaiser Chiefs, Hard Fi and Franz Ferdinand. Each of them has something I really rate about them, and really none of the three stand out for me. Though if I HAD to vote, I'd say Kaiser Chiefs.

Why isn't British Sea Power nominated? I like FF and the KC's but Open Season easily tops both those albums, nevermind Coldplay's latest crap. Haven't heard Hard-Fi or the Gorillaz yet, have to download 'em (legally of course!)

because they are crap.

Kaisers for me. Although I have a feeling Gorillaz may just steal it.

Franz Ferdinand have been let down a little by a weaker second album, which happens a lot in music. The Kaisers did an excellent album but Demon Days is a classic in every sense, which could win it for them.

Philistine! British Sea Power are the best band making music today, with the possible exception of the New Pornographers and The Decemberists. This is not an opinion, it is fact!

I think it will be between Kaiser Chiefs and Gorillaz.

Either would be worthy victors to me  Smile

Quoting 9VSPO (Thread starter):
Coldplay
Franz Ferdinand
Gorillaz
Hard Fi
Kaiser Chiefs

Is this a joke? The best British bands at the moment are Radiohead, Babyshambles (not quite at the Libertines level, but good enough), The Coral, Goldfrapp (awesome live), Muse, Lemon Jelly, British Sea Power, Mr Scruff, 100 Reasons, The Departure, The Other, Stereophonics (new stuff).

Even within the pretty saturated 'Indie' genre (which owes absolutely nothing to the TRUE indie Smiths/Pixies etc) there are some better bands than the bland-o-rama Kaiser Chiefs and Hard Fi. Maximo Park at least have some edge about them, and Bloc Party is what Kaiser Chiefs should have been. Even the Arctic Monkeys, who are alright, don't deserve the massive fuss over their average album - it's been done before and better by the Libertines.

Then again, the majority of people who watch the Brits, and buy the inevitable compliation album, will probably think Fugazi is a type of fungus.

I'm sorry, but any organisation that rewards James Blunt and Coldplay deserves to be banned.
