I don't know if he's in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but he should be: his voice as main play-by-play man for the AFL from 1960 to the merger helped the NFL become what it is today, and his dramatic calls of that upstart league wer legendary (i.e., the "Heidi Game").
He was a great sportscaster. One of the last of the great ones from when sports TV
came of age in the 60's.
