OK. I wouldn't think that your joke with Columbus would be funny, but at least I would be able to see where it was going.

With the pilgrim thing, I just kinda feel used....you know. Like, how can he use my time like this! I feel sick.

Anways, I would love to go to India. I eat at an Indian restaurant owned by an Indian family and they tell me that the best Indian food is in India.

Mmmmmmmmmmm. Curry.

OTOH, I'll bet he knows that under the proposed sale of one foreign company to another, the deal will only involve the operation of certain US ports - not their sale......

Well I know WHY he's going to India......

====================================

The U.S. Congress today announced that the office of President of the
United States of America will be outsourced to India as of April 1,2006.

The move is being made to save the President's $400,000 yearly salary,
and also a record $821 billion in cost overruns, deficit expenditures and
related overhead the office has incurred during the last 5 years.
"We believe this is a wise move financially. The cost savings should be
significant" stated Congressman Thomas Reynolds (R-WA). Reynolds, with
the aid of the Government Accounting Office, has studied outsourcing of
American jobs extensively. "We cannot expect to remain competitive on
the world stage with the current level of cash outlay" Reynolds noted.
Mr. Bush was informed by email this morning of his termination.
Preparations for the job move have been underway for sometime.

Gurvinder Singh of Indus Teleservices, Mumbai, India, will be assuming
the office of President as of April 2, 2006.
Mr. Singh was born in the United States while his Indian parents were
vacationing at Niagara Falls, thus making him eligible for the position.
He will receive a salary of $320 (USD) a month but with no health
coverage or other benefits.
It is believed that Mr. Singh will be able to handle his job
responsibilities without a support staff. Due to the time difference
between the US and India, he will be working primarily at night, when
few offices of the US Government will be open. "Working nights will
allow me to keep my day job at the American Express call center,"
stated Mr. Singh in an exclusive interview. "I am excited about this
position. I always hoped I would be President."

A Congressional Spokesperson noted that while Mr Singh may not be fully
aware of all the issues involved in the office of President, this
should not be a problem because Bush is still not familiar with the issues
either.
Mr. Singh will rely upon a script tree that will enable him to respond
effectively to most topics of concern. Using these canned responses, he
can address common concerns without having to understand the underlying
issues at all.
"We know these scripting tools work," stated the spokesperson.
"President Bush has used them successfully for years."

Summer 2003! I was in SFO dropping a friend flying to LAX when I got stuck on my way out of the parking lot. The reason? The president's convoy was getting into the airport where Air Force One was waiting for him. As you can see, Mr. Bush has visited the city by the bay before.

If I am not mistaken, this is the first time a Republican President has visited India since Richard Nixon.

Eisenhower, Kennedy, Nixon, Carter, and Clinton have visited India since Indian Independence.

Indo-US relations have come a long way since the Cold War. There was wrong on both sides. I think Nehru and Indira Gandhi toed the socialist line a little too much and the "nonaligned" movement was hardly nonaligned in realpolitik.

The U.S. on the other hand, always held India is low esteem, put it on the same moral plane as Pakistan (a dubious proposition, being Pakistan has mostly been a military junta since its independence), and the low point was probably when Kissinger and Nixon called Indira "a witch/bitch".

However, with India's rise on the world stage, I think an Indian visit will be on EVERY U.S. President's schedule from now on. That can only be good for the two nations.

Hey Aseem, do you think Bush, while he is in New Delhi, can lobby for AA DFW-MAA nonstop on a B787? Big grin

not a bad idea!! you catch hold of a Republican in your area and threaten to make it an election issue and I'll arrange a bunch of goons to sit in front of US consulate in DEL and MAA holding placards. Let me call Mulayam & Amma to see what they have to say about it. Big grin

The US is probably viewing India as the only country which can counter the increasing economic and political influence of China . Another reason for this choice could be that India is not home to any major anti-American sentiment, something that is on the rise almost everywhere else. So most Indians wouldn't mind or actually may even welcome Uncle Sam's increased presence in the region.

Expect more goodies to be thrown India's way in the future.

Bush and Manmohan Singh have a great opportunity to sign an Indo-US military treaty that for the first time fully accepts India's unapologetic rise as a nuclear power. The ramifications would be enormous in terms of trade, infrastructural developments and a seismic change in how the average Indian views the United States. What's more, if the average Indian voter begins to view the US as a trusted ally, it could wipe out the lingering presence of India's absurd left wing Marxist and Communist parties who use anti-Americanism as a way to create hurdles against virtually anything progressive.

Sadly, the only person on God's green earth who cares about this is you. The chances of a DFW-MAA nonstop are as likely as a nonstop Teheran-Boise 744 service.

No I would assume it has something to do with FA-18 /F-16's .. Which is a good thing... $$$

We have real tough competition on the fighter program Mig 29, Rafale, Typhoon. Why not send the the President to help with the program.

Personally I would love to come to India for a visit again , I was in Bombay for a short visit a few years ago. (work) I would love to get out of the city and see the rest of the country.
