Please Keep My Daughter In Your Prayers.

Thu Feb 23, 2006 11:28 am

This is very hard for me to write this but today my wife and I found out that our daughter, Savanna, has Pleuropulmonary Blastoma, which is a rare form of cancerous cysts in her lung. We and the doctors initially thought she just had some "regular" cysts, or "blebes" that were causing her lung to deflate but now they know what it really is. I am praying that the surgeons can remove it all but since little is known about this, we just don't know.

I am at Arkansas Childeren's Hospital now and I don't have access to the internet as often as I used to but I am asking you to please include my little girl in you thoughts and prayers and I will try to check on any responses when I can.

Thank you all.

I will definitely keep your daughter and your family in the prayers, Jason.

I found this link for parents regarding this disease that might be helpful when you go searching for more information:

Oh no, this is so unfair! First the surgery, and now this!

You're all in my prayer... both Savanna, you and the rest of your family... this shouldn't be happening to ANYONE.. I hope she recovers speedily.

Jason, I am so sorry to hear that Savanna is still ill and in the hospital. I know she has been ill for some time and she has been in my thoughts and prayers. It is always so hard to say the right thing when something like this happens.

My heart goes out to you, your wife and family and of course Savanna. Stay strong and I hope you get good news soon.

It is so unfair that someone so precious has to go through something like this....

That is really weird, that yours and DL021's daughter have such a similar condition (pneumothorax) occuring at the same time.

Blastomas are tumors that originate from very immature, embryonally derived cells. The good thing about it is that the usually respond to other complementary forms of treatment, such as chemotherapy or radiotherapy. Here is a simplifyed version of the definition of these seldom tumors.

"Pleuropulmonary Blastoma

Pleuropulmonary blastomas are rare tumors that usually occur under the tissue covering the lungs. The tumors may recur or spread, in spite of surgical removal. Responses to chemotherapy have been reported. Radiation may be used when the tumor cannot be surgically removed. A family history of cancer in close relatives has been noted for many young patients affected by this tumor."

If you need more info, you can IM me at any time.

Hope all goes well for her and for you.

Alex

Wow! Thank you for all the responses! Savanna had an "Echo" test done for her heart and everything was fine and the results from the CT scans showed that nothing has spread into the rest of her body. It was just limited to the one small section of her right lung and a small speck on her left lung. So instead of surgery, she is going to start her chemotherapy on Tuesday. The doctors believe this will wipe out it out completely.

I know the next 8 or 9 months will be very difficult for Savanna but I know GOD will be there every step of the way. Because the chemo will more than likely make Savanna's hair fall out, I will be first in line to shave my head as well!

Thank you all very much for your support and prayers. This is the only place that I am a member of a forum and to know there are people out there like you all throughout the world praying for her makes me feel so much stronger.

I will keep you up to date with her progress and if anyone wants to talk to me they can email me or call me at 501-626-3987.

Only the best to you all,
jason

Man! that's good to hear.

Along my way in life, I've been fortunate to know a lot of people who survived major childhood diseases. Our A.net brother "Buzz" is married to a woman who survived a heart and lung transplant as a child.

Every one of these survivors has looked death in the face and is not afraid. This makes their view on Life much different than those who've not. As if they've become a soldier, battling for their life.

I can see that her Father is tapping every resource available for her success. God Bless your little girl.....give her a big kiss on the forehead from everyone at A.net!

Doc....I appreciate your thoughts, but my wife's issue is milder than this. We've caught her problem and they will operate on Monday, but it's not cancerous, and it's easy to fix albeit with fairly major surgery.

Hey,

What a beautiful little girl! You and your family are definitely in my prayers. I also have great faith in what the medical community can do for our children. You and your wife stay strong through all this..... It's wonderful news so far. .. I had almost given up hope on my grandson, Chris.... and lo and behold a bone marrow donor was found and he's getting the treatment starting on Mon...... Wonders do happen.

This A.Net community is a loving bunch and we are all here for you to 'think out loud' .... don't hesitate....

With prayers "flying" your way,
