Dallas Area A.netters: Volunteer Opportunity

Mon Feb 27, 2006 4:24 am

Hey y'all, with the much needed rain we had yesterday one problem occurred: it flooded all the trash from White Rock Creek and White Rock Lake up onto the shoreline. I have never seen this much trash around the lake, and I've lived pretty much right on it for all my life. We could really use some help cleaning it all up, especially on the west side of the lake on West Lawther Drive between Winsted and Mockingbird. That entire area is under a blanket of Styrofoam, beer bottles, and debris. If any of y'all can help out, please let me know via message, email, or posting in this thread. I'll be out there every day this week after 3:00 pm except Tuesday when I will not be able to make it out until around 6:00 pm. Also, if any of y'all are in high school or college, give me the name of the community service director and I'll call them and try to get some hours put on your sheet.

Thank you very much.

Thank you, DfwRevolution, for your help today. In about 2.5 hours the two of us alone were able to fill 2 bags full of trash and 2 full of recyclables. If anyone else in the Dallas area can help out, we could really use it. I'll be on the west side of the lake by about 3:15 pm every day except Tuesday. Look for about the only person out there who is picking up trash and debris  Smile

I was really shocked to see how much trash there was as you drove down Lawther toward Mockingbird. There really is a need to volunteer if anyone has the time!
