The Amazing Race!

Wed Mar 01, 2006 1:54 am

anyone else jacked up for the 2 hour season premierernof The Amazing Race tonight? I was just scoping out the teams and wellrnfrom my eyes i think the two teams i want to see go the furthest arernWanda & Desiree the mother and daughter combo Big grin and the two beautyrngirls in pink, my browser wont let me click on them on the website forrnsome reason.

I am so bloody happy that the got rid of the FamilyrnEdition and are doing it the real way this time around. This season isrnsupposed to be sending teams to more exotic places so lets hope they gornto some rugged places most of us have never seen before.

i save my drinking for the actual show.

anytime phil arches his brown or there is a shot of his totally distracting bulge, yeah i drink. so i'm usually sloshed 20minutes into the show.

i think tonight they are headed to brazil but i know their starting point is just west, outside DEN.

The Family Edition had its moments, but I am glad to see the 2-man teams back. Looks like an exciting race coming up.

I take this show very seriously! I read all the team profiles but I have dial-up, so I did not watch any of the interviews. I like Jeremy & Eric to win. Before the show, I thought the hippies from San Francisco would be the first off, but when I heard the voice of the queen from New England, I knew right then they would be first off!

I am so very, very happy! I am watching TV again!  Smile

In Australia we skipped the family Amazing Race. Amazing Race 9 starts again for Australian in a few days.

Looks like one of the stops will be somewhere in Australia according to the TV promos.

Producers say there will never be another "family" edition..and that this edition will move more quickly, and involve more physical activities than past shows. 60-thousand miles in 29 days...should be good. At least no one in New York will be asking..where's Pennsylvania.  Smile Now, about those two "big boned"
women....

I didn't understand why Lake & Michelle didn't receive a penalty of some kind for trying to reserve their tickets over the phone, that was expressly verboten in the instructions. Maybe it was because they ended up not taking that flight?

It was funny to see all those dudes in Sao Paulo hooting and hollering while she tried to put the bike together. Ray was getting pissed too. Big grin

I hope the pink girls or the two annoying older ladies get the boot next. The elder couple looks a little slow and lacking wit to be on AR, but I could be in for a surprise.

It was nice to see my hometown on that show. For the millionth time, WE DON'T SPEAK SPANISH IN BRAZIL! IT'S PORTUGUESE! I was surprised to see a couple of the cabbies actually spoke English.

I was wondering the same thing.

Did another team end up getting the seats they reserved over the phone? I don't recall. If no one could get them, then Lake and Michelle should have gotten some sort of a time penalty.

If I had to handicap this race based on one segment, I see the three or four teams that were leading last night pretty much running the table. No one running further back in the pack struck me as a team that has a run in them later on in the race.

I don't believe they got one, and their seats don't appear to have been released. From the counts they gave for each plane, 3 took American (the earliest, and the flight Lake & Michelle had phoned ahead for a reservation), and 4 each took United and Continental.

I missed the first hour of the show. could someone please fill me in on the itins that people took from DEN-GRU? was it AA via MIA, CO via IAH, and UA via ORD?

IIRC it was the following:

AA: DEN-DFW-GRU
CO: DEN-IAH-GRU
UA: DEN-IAD-GRU

That caught my attention as well. Didn't they end up on the United flight when everything was said and done?

One thought that just crossed my mind is they might have called AA back and cancelled the reservation and that footage ended up on the cutting room floor. But that's pure speculation on my part.

Saw the first hour. Was on the phone during the second.

Does anyone know when they play reruns for the week? I'm sure it like at 1 am. Any other times. I'm not sure who got eliminated last night.

Last summer I ran in Gretchin and Meredith from last spring's Amazing Race season. They were riding the tram at MSP and I stood next to them. I told them I was goin for them during the race. She said it was really hard.

AHHHH, welcome back to the regular style Amazing Race!

That show last night was the reason I came to love the show and could not stand to watch the family version after episode 4. Last night, the pace was fast, the language was excellent (the two Gramazons were so funny with their potty mouths!) and the results were in line with the teams performances. The right team was eliminated, and the weaker ones were towards the bottom.

Was nice to see CO represented again on the show, personally. Came as a surprise!

Prediction: Anyone of the top 4 last night should win versus the others. The dentist from MS cant carry his wife the whole way, and depending on physical stunts, the geeks from KS may actually have a good chance to go to the end. Saw nothing in the way of stupidity from any of the top 3 in fact.

Back to the real one....hurray! Life on tuesday nights is now over. I am an avid fan of TAR, and I did not watch one complete episode of the family edition. Yes, it was that bad. But this new one seems so great. Also great to see them starting from DEN. I was reading the paper like 4 months ago and the Denver Post caught them in the Denver airport, they had photos of them and everything. If they start at DEN, they finish at DEN, no?

Well, I thought tonight's episode was very lame and boring...almost seemed too short...the end result, again no complaints, the team that was last probably wouldnt have gone much farther anyway (IMO), and so its great to see the weak being weeded out early this time...looks like they have to go a long ways in the next ep, to Moscow, so some good travel scenes await us in a week!

I think it seemed short because last week's was 2 hours. I liked tonight's episode, mostly because I got to see all the spots in Sao Paulo and I knew where they were going. Also I hope those two blonde harlots get eliminated soon. I was surprised no one tried to bribe the doorman at the Copan Building, a few bucks can go a long way in Brazil in those situations, but not that it would have done them much good in this case.
Next week, they'll probably connect in FRA, MAD, CDG or MXP before going to MOW. Aeroflot used to have a GRU - MOW flight in the early 90s that had a layover in IIRC Cape Verde.
