£53 Million Securitas Raid

Wed Mar 01, 2006 3:04 am

Personally, I think the people who did this were very clever, they've pulled off the biggest heist in British history and are now leading the authorities on a wild goose chase. I also think that Securitas (the company the money was stolen from) should be deeply embarrassed. They are indeed a firm which deals with extremely large amounts of money, should there not have been armed guards all over this warehouse? Was there any guards on duty? If so, what were they doing?

The family which was kidnapped, surely they, the company or the police knew all along they were a potential target for a group of thieves? I would've expected some sort of device which would allow them to alert Police quickly if they were in any kind of danger.

It's almost definate that the people who stole this money are on the other side of the world right now. These are not your average thieves.

Just my personal opinion. I would like to know your views.

Well considering they have 5 suspects in custody and have found 2 vans of money and the truck, I dont think they are that clever. I know what your trying to say though and they pulled the actual heist off very well but its all Ifs and Buts now as its already happened.

Now, call me crazy but this is all part of the plan of the robbery if you ask me. These people may well have some stolen money, but it's all a decoy which has been set. Heck, this robbery has no doubt been planned out for years!

Look at the history of similar large robberies, as regards to those that carried them out getting locked up.
As for the idea of 100% security-never going to happen.
They might have got on the Eurostar, or some of them.
But ever heard of Interpol?
The loopholes in some countries that previous generations of armed robbers bolted to, with little fear of extradition, are pretty much closed.

Didn't they find some of the money and a van at Ashford International?

In my opinion, the fact that it's ashford international, means it's long gone! All this searching round the Maidstone area is just to make the public think the Police are somehow competent.

You can murder and rape and the local police will try and catch you. You steal a sum of money like that and you have the whole world's police after you.

You have to be pretty good to get away with it.

As for the money they found, it was new and easily tracable. No good to you, especially when you've got plenty more untracable notes.

Clearly someone in this gang had to be someone who previously and recently worked for that company and site. They had to know what levels of sceurity were there, so they could figure out how to by-pass, when a very high level of money was there to make it worth the attempt and then other whom had/have good connections on how to dispose and move the money. But no theif, even at this level, is perfect. Someone will screw it up and blab or marked money will turn up someplace being spent or exchanged and more of this group will be determined and arrested.

In these days of forensic science it is stupid to try to leave a false trail, you leave evidence at the scene, and you take it away with you ,Every time something is found more and more forensic evidence is added to the "bank"
You also have to bear in mind that it is not actually necessary to retrieve the cash itself. The £26 million stolen in the Brinksmat raid was recovered without any of the gold ever being found.
This gang have made too many mistakes. Check out http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4742362.stm

Er, Oli80, ever heard of forensic science?

Of course, if something dramatic and drastic is not having right now, preferably for the benefit of 24 hr rolling news please, it is not happening at all.

That's great if they already have records.

Look at the case with this young model that was murdered in the London area, they have requested all males in the town to come in to have DNA tests done to see if they can match it to the sample they collected. It means they have no match on record. (I Probably haven't explained that very well)

Secondly, if they can figure out who did it, they will still have to catch them. They could this present minute be enjoying the money in Brazil for all we know...
