Bangkok Travel Advice Needed

Mon Mar 06, 2006 10:20 pm

I am flying to Bangkok on Friday night and will be landing about 11:30pm. I need to get to my hotel which is down town near siam square. Can anyone give me advice on the best way to get from the airport to the hotel?
I believe there are cheap buses but for convinience (due to the late hour) i was going to get a cab but I am worried about being ripped off.
Thanks in advance for you help!

BTW, will also be my first flight on an MD11, quite looking forward to it.

There is also a limousine service operated by Thai (at least there WAS one, when I last visited BKK).

As for the cab, make sure that you get one with a Taximeter, and make sure it gets switched on properly! And don't even think about negotiating a price on your own if you don't know the fares in BKK. And don't go for those guys standing there who'll try to hustle you into a certain taxi....did I miss something?
I know it's only VfB but I like it!

I'm not sure about the Airport Bus service, but if you exit the terminal and head towards the taxi stand, these taxis are regulated by the Airport Authority, your destination will be recorded by the staff at the booth and you will be given a receipt containing the name of your driver, taxi number and destination. With these taxis, you are pretty much guaranteed to be charged the price on the meter + 50 Bht (70p) admin charge and any additional toll charges, while if you exit the airport premises and flag down your own taxi, you can by-pass the 50 Bht charge, but you'll be at your own risk of getting ripped off.

There is a limousine service costing 700Baht from the airport arrivals area.

Failing that, a "Taximeter" cab will cost you 400 Baht.

Isn't that more of a Pat Pong thing than a Nana thing?

Are you sure about that? Because that word doesn't exist in my Thai Dictionary for such meaning. I'm sure you know what it means cuz you might fancy one of them!!  Smile

To be exact, Patpong and Nana are almost the same but only there are a few russian girls too.
