Currency Exchange

Thu Mar 09, 2006 4:15 am

Hey guys. I'm flying MCO-MAN on Friday night, getting in Saturday morning. I'm not too sure how the currency exchange works. Do I exchange my American money for British currency when I get into MAN? Or where do I do this? Are there competitive businesses for exchanging currency or all the same rates?

You can do it at MCO if you want.

Or you can use the exchange in the baggage claim area at MAN  Smile

Do you know which might provide better rates?

Withdraw cash from an ATM using your card. The exchange rate is more favourable. Have fun in Manchester.

If it was me, I'd just change the minimum needed, and use a Visa card for everything else.

Banks and ATMs they run will always give you better rates than the guys in the airport. Hotels usually provide a rate somewhere in between.

Since you are going to the UK don't get caught up in trying to do the conversion rate as you'll just get depressed. When you factor in VAT take that price in Pounds, say 1 Pound for a Coke out of a machine, and if it compares ok with what you might pay for something back home then get it. Just expect everything to cost double what you might pay back home and you won't be disapppointed. Have fun over there. I love the UK.
