FL Drivers License Law, Question

Thu Mar 09, 2006 5:18 am

Im possibly going to school in MCO in the fall and would like to bring my car. I will be there for 2 or 3 years, Is my Massachusetts drivers license valid there? Or do I need to get a FLA one?

Of course it's valid. This isn't Russia.

Although I am a Florida native I had been relocated to the Space Center in Alabama bythe time I went to college up in Gainesville. I kept my Alabama tags and license the entire time I was in school as I wasn't a resident of Florida.

If you decide to become a resident of Florida then you would have to switch everything over. Otherwise you are considered transient and don't have to worry.

Oh, you will have to worry that we'll point and giggle at you for having Massachusetts plates on your car and generally make fun of you for becoming a Damn Yankee if you do decide to set up residency but don't let that sway your decision. Us Crackers are ok!

Are you looking at UCF?

You can also get a florida ID with a MA address if you are here for a while.

As long as you dont mind people pointing at you and yelling "Masshole! Masshole!" as you drive by, then, no, theres no problem keeping your Mass tags/liscense.
Remember, taking off is optional, landing is mandatory.

As long as you are a student you don't need to switch anything. Should you quit school, then you need to change over to Florida residency. (Keep in mind taxes are a LOT cheaper in FL than MA)- no state income tax for example.

Huh? I'm not sure what part of the state you're in but I'm glad I don't live there..
Now it should be "IFLYDCA"

LMFAO, son its the other way around. I laugh at these southern rednecks, poor, less educated, slow talkers, slow thinkers, and NASCAR watchers.

When I see IL, MA, NY, NJ, PA, MI plates down here I think "Oh, a sign of civilization"

Hold on a second. I'm taking shit from a Polish guy? Didn't your submarine fleet have screen doors? [Insert additional tacky Polish jokes here]  biggrin   duck

The South is a wonderful place to live and many Northerners have figured it out which would explain the population flow towards the South.

In response to Lot767. What you just said is totally ridiculous. So you are saying that just because I have lived in the south all my life, that I have no money, that I am not well educated, i talk slow like this, that i don't think quickly enough to carry on a conversation and that all I do on the weekends during Nascar season is sit around and watch cars run around a track. That is probably why a northerner would be picked at by a southerner. I honestly hope that is not the way that you really feel about people from the south.
